Cory Handel

It is with profound sadness that the family of Cory Daniel Handel announces his passing at Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre, Lloydminster, Alberta, February 27, 2022 at the age of 42 years.

Left to cherish his memory are: his mother, Patty (Jim) Ryan; father, Vernon (Julie) Handel; brothers, Denver (Joan) Handel, Kevin (Courtney) Handel, Derrick Handel and Quinton Handel; step-brother, James Leslie Ryan; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; grandfather, William Handel; and Cory's wife and friend, Lindsay Lavigne and her family.

Cory was predeceased by : maternal grandparents, William and Myrtle McCafferty; paternal grandmother, Inga Handel; uncle, Bernie Handel; father-in-law, Rick Lavigne; and his great uncle, Walter Mahnke.

Cory was born in the old Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on January 25, 1980. Cory lived in both Lloydminster, AB and Lloydminster, SK throughout his entire life while working in various lines of work: backhoe-trachoe operator, mower operator/contractor and heavy equipment operator.

Cory loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, sport fishing at, Loon Lake with the Handel family, and Chitek Lake with the Lavigne family, candy, ice fishing with the Lavigne family, online chess, candy and first and foremost any and all gathering with his families (where candy would be served).

A Viewing will be held at McCaw Funeral Chapel, Lloydminster, Alberta on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM for family and 7:30 - 8:30 PM for friends.

The Funeral Service for Cory will be conducted from First Lutheran Church (2925-57A Ave), Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow. If you are unable to attend, you may view the live streaming of the service which will be posted on the McCaw Funeral Service website under Cory's obituary at the time of service.

In Cory's honor and in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made directly to Liver Foundation Canada.

The families would like to thank all of the doctors and staff at Lloydminster Hospital, Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, and Lloydminster Continuing Care Center, for their continuous professional care and support.
