Earl also leaves behind his sisters, May Lang and Tillie Ferris; and sister-in-law, Betty Evans.
Earl was predeceased by: his wife, Marian; his brothers, Kirk and Bob Evans; and his sister, Dolly Hines.
Earl’s life was a testament to resilience, love and the power of family. He was blessed to find love twice and was deeply grateful for all the family who enriched his life.
The youngest of six children, Earl shared many happy stories growing up on the farm with his parents, Dick and Olive Evans. One of his earliest and favorite memories is farming with his Dad. As a little kid he would run home from school to ride the tractor with his Dad. He was a determined and innovative farmer working alongside his brother Kirk, and his sons, Rick and Murray.
He especially loved harvest time and was fortunate to continue to help with combining every year since he retired including this fall where he still put in long days, climbed on equipment and loved every minute. He was grateful for every harvest he could help and lamented that there could come a day when he couldn’t be part of harvest. If there is a silver-lining in this loss, he didn’t miss a harvest.
While he loved farming, his family was his life. He was an amazing and loyal partner, Dad, Grandpa, and friend. He took great pride and delighted in every school milestone, sport event and celebration. Earl’s joy for life was matched by his exceptional strength of character. He didn’t just make it a priority to show up for the good times he was unfalteringly present to help and provide comfort during the bad times.
Following the passing of his beloved wife Marian, Earl found love again with Donna, bringing happiness and companionship into their later years.
Curling was a sport that brought him countless hours of joy playing and watching in person and on TV. He loved attending the Brier and other provincial and national championships. We are all so grateful that he and Andrew attended the provincial curling championships in Leduc in February 2013. It was there that Earl reconnected with Donna Orr, and together, they found immense happiness travelling, visiting with family and friends, and enjoying the simple pleasure of being together.
The Funeral Service for Earl will be Friday, December 13, 11:00 AM at Kitscoty Community Hall followed by the interment at Kitscoty Community Cemetery. Lunch will follow at Kitscoty Community Hall.
