Obituary of Murray McDonald
Douglas "Murray" McDonald passed away peacefully at his home in Kitscoty, AB surrounded by his family at age 96.
Born to James & Ruby McDonald on November 23, 1928 at Kerrobert, SK he was the 3rd born of 5 children.
Leaving his childhood home in Superb, SK he moved a few times for jobs eventually ending up in Paradise Valley in 1952 where he met Beatrice Kragnes. They married in 1954 celebrating their 70th anniversary in November 17,2024. The young couple started their married life in Edmonton welcoming their first-born Daryl in 1959. From there they moved back to Paradise Valley, where Donna (1960), Jim (1962) and Carolyn (1964) were born. Shortly after Carolyn was born, they moved to Blackfoot where they lived until moving to Kitscoty in 2004.
As a career truck driver Murray hauled anything that needed to be transported including gas/propane, livestock for Roberge Bros, oilfield hauling, fuel for Ed Kings Husky, as well as oilfield tanks for Corlac Industries. His last trip in the truck was at age 94 driving Daryl's semi back from Lloydminster.
Watching any sport was something he enjoyed as well as watching grandchildren when he could. Golfing and hunting for lost balls along the way filled many of his summer days both at Sandy Beach and Kitscoty. He was happy to help with the horses, keeping the arena groomed as well as keeping the acreages looking nice. Grandpa was always around for everyone in the family no matter what was needed and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix.
Murray is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Beatrice; children, Daryl (Sandra) McDonald, Donna (Cliff) Ruud, James McDonald and Carolyn (Rocky) Buksa; brother, Don McDonald of Kamloops, BC; 8 Grandchildren, Angie McDonald (Kim Hudon), Lindsay (Travis) Pollard, Tony (Sharlyn) Graham, Brett (Kristen) Graham, Janie McDonald, Jordan McDonald, Kayla Buksa (Theo Van Gurp) and Cole Buksa (Andrea Millman); 2 step grandchildren, Tara (Kon) Petroutsokas and Carson (Elexa) Ruud; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
