Harvey Davies

Obituary of Harvey Davies

Walter Harvey Davies, age 90, of Lloydminster, AB passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025, at Laurier House Strathcona in Sherwood Park, AB.

Harvey was born in Lloydminster, SK to Walter and Doris (nee MacKenzie) Davies on October 4, 1934. He attended high school in Kitscoty AB, graduating in 1952. It was there he met the love of his life, Shirley Horning, and they were married July 14, 1955, remaining so until Shirley’s death in 2015. Their long and loving relationship was Harvey’s greatest joy in life.

Following early work on the family farm, Harvey went into the trades and spent the bulk of his career in plumbing and pipefitting, often away for lengthy stints working on schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, hotels and many different refineries and industrial plants throughout Alberta. Additionally, he engaged in a number of profitable real estate ventures and was instrumental in the creation and servicing of a cul-de-sac on the north end of town where the Davies’ resided for decades. Many life-long friendships were cultivated among the neighbouring families that lived in “the circle”.  An avid traveller, Harvey and Shirley spent winters during retirement in a trailer park in Indio, California. There they served regular pancake breakfasts to many new friends and Harvey served as a board member.

Harvey is survived by: his four children, Sherry (Richard) of St. Isidore, AB, Diane (Doug) of Edmonton, AB, Duane (Tammy) of Cochrane, AB, and Neil (Linda) of Vancouver, BC; brother, Donny; and grandsons, Ryan (Sydney), Adam (Meghan), Justin (Kassandra), Glenn, Michael and Clayton.

Funeral Services will be conducted on April 12, 2025 at McCaw Funeral Chapel, 5101 - 50 Street, Lloydminster, AB. Please check back for a time.

Donations in memory of Harvey may be made to Myositis Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or donor's charity of choice.
