Obituary of Adella Pilling

Adella Eva Pilling passed away on March 19, 2025 at Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford, SK at the age of 88 years.  

Adella was born near Coronach, SK. to Daniel and Nettie Maier on August 30, 1936. She went to school in Coronach and after graduation, attended Teachers’ College. She began her teaching career in Moose Jaw at King George School and ended her career 30 plus years later in Livelong, SK. She touched the lives of many children. She enjoyed reading and current events, but most of all she cherished her family and friends. She grabbed every opportunity she had to be on the road going somewhere for coffee and a visit.  

Adella leaves to mourn, her loving husband of 65 years, Irven Pilling; daughters, Starla (Rick) Denny and Sherry McDonald; son; Brent (Jeanette) Pilling; grandchildren, Robert Denny (Friend Heather), Christina Denny, Stephen Pilling (Friend Tammy), Craig Pilling, Jamey Pilling (Friend Scott), Justin (Shelby) McDonald, Austin McDonald (Friend Tori), Tristin (Jordyn) McDonald and Karstin McDonald (Friend Kassi); great grandchildren, Jesse Denny, Parker Denny (Friend Brooke), Mason Denny, Jordan Rhode, Christopher Rhode (Friend Emily), Ceanna Rhode, Kolby Carlson, Berkley Carlson, Flora McDonald and Thatcher McDonald; sister and brother-in-law, Ida and Dick Gerbrandt; nephews, Wayne (Brenda) Gerbrandt, Les Gerbrandt and Wade (Vicki) Lewis, and families; nieces; Twyla (Nick) Szoke and her children and Carla Lewis; niece-in-law; Susan Gerbrandt; and all her extended family and friends.

Adella was predeceased by: her father and mother; Daniel (Nettie) Maier, brothers, Rueben and William Maier; sister, Ella and her husband, Dahlton Lewis; son-in-law, Blair McDonald; and nephew, Brian Gerbrandt.

Thank you to all the Nursing Staff at Riverside Health Complex for their kindness and caring during Mom’s brief stay. We would also like to thank St. Walburg Ambulance attendants for the excellent care and attentiveness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Livelong Community Hall, Livelong SK on Friday, March 28 at 11:00 am. If you are unable to attend in person, you may view the live streaming of the service posted on McCaw Funeral Service website under Adella's obituary.

Lunch and fellowship will follow.
