Ada Schimelfenig Obituary

We will all miss Ada Edith Schimelfenig who passed away in Camrose, Alberta on November 29, 2025 at the age of 91 years.

Ada was born in Tullymet, Saskatchewan to R.V. and Mabel Ellis. She was the fourth child of seven girls. While she was young, they moved to a farm near Pendergast, Saskatchewan and then on to Marshall. Ada went to school until grade 8 and then started working. She met Sighart Schimelfenig at a dance and they were married on March 4, 1953. Five years later they started their family of five wonderful children. They worked together on the farm as a team. Mom worked at a few other jobs, like selling Avon, cooking for Lil and Mervin at a restaurant in Payton and as a telephone operator. However, the job she loved and succeeded at the most was being a Wife, Mom, Grandmother and a Great Grandmother. She was proud of all her kids and kept us all together as a close-knit family.

She had so much love in her heart for everyone. No matter who showed up at her door, Ada would welcome them in, feeding everyone and providing a great visit or whatever was needed at the time.

Mom was a great gardener, a fantastic cook and always wanted to keep busy. She loved exercising, curling, knitting and crafting.

They spent 21 years together going to Arizona in the winters. They met many wonderful life long friends and she enjoyed shuffling, hiking, golfing, and crafting. She lived life to the fullest.

Ada is lovingly remembered by:

Her Sons, Wayne (Karen Hult) Schimelfenig and son Allan (Jammie); Kevin Schimelfenig and children Jordon (Angela), Shaylene Graves, Tristen (Brittany) and Samara.

Her Daughters: Wendy (Ken) Martin and children Ryan (Kristina), Nikki (Jay), Andrew (Alisa) and Christi (Jesse); Carolyn (Kim) Jabusch and children Carleah (Matt) Gotchia, Jessica Anderson; Dixie (Roger) Farkash and children Becky (Ryan), Wade (Breanna) and Brandi (Scott).

Her Great-grandchildren: Wilder, Floyd, Lillith, Iris, Prairie, Oden, Roman, Charlie, Felix, Billie-Lynn, Axel, Elly, Gunner, Elise, Serenity, Everly, Xavier, Ava, Maya, Daxton.

Ada was predeceased by:

Her loving husband, Sighart Schimelfenig; parents, R.V. and Mable Ellis; and sisters, Hazel LaRoque, Violet Rewerts, Sylvia Lepine, Nora Winter, Ethel Eveneshen and Marjorie Fisher
