It is with profound sadness and relief that Arthur Edward (Porky) Bexson passed quietly at his home at Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre (LCC) on Sunday June 28th at the age of 99 he would have been 100 this coming October.

Art has resided at LCC for the past 5 years. Prior to that, Pioneer Lodge had been his home. The care he received at both these homes was second to none.

Art was born in Lloydminster in October of 1926, the third of seven children to Cleve and Marjorie Bexson.

Art enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army in 1944-45 and was a Private however did not see active duty as the war came to an end.

Art had several careers in his lifetime from delivering milk from a horse drawn wagon for the Dairy, as well as several trucking jobs as driver and dispatcher, to delivering mail for Canada Post and retiring in 1991. 

Art married Joyce Hill in November of 1947 after a courtship that began at Joyce’s workplace, the Lloydminster Hospital where Art delivered milk. To this bond five children were born Kay, Bryan, Lyle, Joe & Brent.  

Art possessed a strong work ethic which he passed on to his family and co-workers throughout his life. Art and Joyce discovered a mutual love for the hobby of Square Dancing and this passion took them many places over the years across Canada and the states. The friendships that developed through this pastime flourished well beyond the dance halls.

Art was a respected volunteer for a number of organizations including the Chain & Circle Square Dance Club, The Canadian Order of Foresters, and Habitat for Humanity where he was treasurer for many years and was a frequent donor to the Canadian Blood service.

Art is lovingly remembered by: his daughter, Kay Born of Red Deer; his sons, Bryan (Lana) of Vanscoy, Lyle (Margaret) of Lloydminster, Joe (Betty) of Prince Albert, and Brent (Pam) of Calgary; and his sister, Joan O’Neill of Lloydminster. He is also remembered by his 13 grandchildren, Dan Born, Dawn Dykman, Nikki Born, Lora Enns, Lynn Calyniuk, Lorraine Lueders, Gian Bexson, Morgan Bexson, Jarad Bexson, Pamela Johnson, Mardell Johnson, Javan Bexson, and Karac Hendriks; as well as many great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Art was predeceased by: his wife, Joyce; brothers, Kenny, Sidney, Cleveland (Beefy)and Bob; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Reid; and parents, William and Marjorie Bexson.

At this time, the Family would like to express our appreciation to all the caregivers and staff of the places Dad called home these last number of years; Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre and Pioneer Lodge as well as all those friends that stopped in for a visit! 

A Celebration of Life will be held July 31st, 2026, at 2:00 pm at St. Johns Anglican Church, Lloydminster, SK.
