Obituary of Lillie Stone

Lillie Rose Stone passed away on December 16, 2007 with her family at her side. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Derry, four children: Garret (Kathy) of Kelowna, BC; Carrie (Duane) of Lloydminster, SK; Brent (Raelyn) of Lloydminster, SK; LeeAnn (Chris) of Blackfoot, AB and ten grandchildren: Megan, Garth, Nicholas, Brett, Brooke, Mandy Mason, Mackenzie, Carter and Avery. Lil is also survived by her mother Stancy Schiller and five brothers: Carl (Judy), Frank (Marie), Mark (Cecile), Paul (Kim) and Miles (Heather). She was predeceased by her loving father Fred Schiller.
Lil was born in St. Walburg on December 4, 1946 and grew up on a farm near Spruce Lake, SK. She and Derry Stone met in the Deer Valley area (east of St. Walburg) and married in 1962. They lived in several small towns and cities throughout the Midwest and eventually resided to the peaceful town of Maidstone, SK where they planned to retire together.
She enjoyed the serenity of the outdoors. In her younger life she cherished the family camping and fishing holidays in northern Saskatchewan, she enjoyed her chores on the Schiller farm and farming with Derry during the 1970's. Later in life Lil worked as a store manager in Marwayne and Lloydminster, then as an assistant with her youngest brother Miles at Investor Group. Lil loved children, animals, gardening and nature. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew her.
As per Lil's request cremation took place and a private family burial will be held in the spring.
The family would like to thank the kind hospital and emergency staff of Maidstone, North Battleford and three hospital in Saskatoon (University, City and St. Paul's).

The family of Lillie Stone would also like to thank all of our family and friends who were very supportive at this difficult time. To everyone who sent food, flowers, gifts, cards and donations on behalf of our beloved Mother and Wife.
Thank you is also sent out to McCaw Funeral Home, First Lutheran Church, Pastor Nolan Astley, organist Brenda Findlay, Steve Wlodarczyk for the wonderful eulogy he wrote and to the volunteers who supplied and catered the wonderful lunch after the funeral service.
