CHRISTIE ~ Gladys Margaret Christie passed away at Lloydminster Hospital on Wednesday, June 19 at the age of ninety-four years. Gladys was born in Ferguson Flats, Alberta on October 12, 1918 to Margaret and James Gallagher. Gladys leaves to mourn: her children: Lorne Lillemoen, Karen and Ron Amundrud and son-in-law, Abe Unrau; five grandchildren: Bryan and Donna Babey, Gregg and Yvonne Babey, Myrna and Dean VanGenderen, Rhonda and Ron Webber and Paul and Jennifer Amundrud; thirteen great grandchildren: Justin (Jodi) Babey, Brett Babey, Taylor Babey, Derek VanGenderen, Ryan VanGenderen, Trevor VanGenderen, Nicole Webber, Ashley Webber, Levi Willcox, Micaela Willcox, Ashleigh Willcox, Anton Amundrud and Kadence Amundrud; one great-great grandchild: Raya Babey and numerous nieces and nephews. Gladys was predeceased by her mother and father, Margaret and James Gallagher; first husband, Lauritz "Louie" Lillemoen in January 1971; second husband, Dale Christie in November 1991; daughter, Sylvia Babey in May 2013 and son-in-law, Warren Babey in January 1994; siblings: Roy (Marie) Gallagher, Arthur (Flora) Gallagher, Alta (Albert) Hammond, Florence (Tom) Hames, Pearl (Ted) Hames, Leatha (Melvin) Ockerman and Olive (Carl) Nelson. The Funeral Service for Gladys was conducted from Knox Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Charlie McNeil officiating. Gregg Babey gave the eulogy. The hymns sung, "Amazing Grace," and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" were accompanied by pianist Irene Knowlson and soloist Marlene Risling. The honorary pallbearers were Gladys' great grandchildren, while the active pallbearers were her grandchildren. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. Donations in Gladys' memory may be made to Lloydminster Palliative Care, Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre or to a charity of the donor's choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The family of the late Gladys Christie would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the many family and friends who showed their support during this difficult time. Thank you for all the visits, food, prayers, flowers, cards and donations made in Gladys' memory. A special thank you to Dr. Gerber and Dr. Abdulla and the wonderful third floor staff for their loving care to our Mom in her last few days. Also a special thank you to the compassionate staff at both the Dr. Cooke and the Dr. Hemstock homes where Mom's needs were fulfilled and she was always treated with respect and kindness. We would like to thank Reverend Charlie McNeil for officiating the service, Gregg Babey for the loving eulogy, Marlene Risling and Irene Knowlson for the wonderful gift of music, and the Knox Presbyterian Goodwill Group for the lunch.
