CAMPBELL ~ Eva Campbell passed away at the Jubilee Home in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Thursday, August 8 at the age of 90 years. Eva was born to Lena & Bob McBain on the 8th of November 1922 in Eatonia, Saskatchewan. In 1934, the McBain family moved to Alcurve, Alberta to join Eva's grandparents, Annabelle and John Alguire. The Alguire's had built and originally opened the Alcurve Store. Eva started school at Warwickville and then went to Lloydminster to complete high school. During her school years she had numerous friends including Monica Gibbs. Eva and Monica remained lifelong friends spending weekends horseback riding and going to Friday night dance's to meet the boys from the north. Monica tells the story of how Eva's mom (Lena) would put egg white in their hair to keep the curls in. Eva was a telephone operator from 1942 until 1945. She had to leave her job due to the deterioration of her hearing because of measles as a child. Eva married Jim Campbell on the 14th of July, 1945. They had three children: Bruce, Bob and Betty. Eva was an excellent cook, especially her bread and buns. She loved to knit and read. Her strong math skills made her an excellent bookkeeper which she did for many years for Valley C. Eva's meticulous bookkeeping and Jim's strong work ethic provided the base for the successful company it is today. Eva and Jim moved to the Pioneer Lodge in 1999. Eva was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. She would love to watch the games and collected a lot of their memorabilia. Eva spent her last two years at the Jubilee Home where she received excellent care. Eva is survived by three children: Bruce and wife, Linda; Bob and wife, Lynda; and Betty and husband, Bill Gartner; six Grandchildren: Lori, Kyla, Darren, Ryan, Tyler and Brynn; and twelve great grandchildren. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Jim Campbell on May 12, 2011. The Memorial Service for Eva was conducted From McCaw Funeral Chapel in Lloydminster, Alberta on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Joyce Dickson officiating. Dennis Gibbs gave the eulogy. Special music was performed by Tim & Sheila Gibbs. The Honorary Pallbearers were her grandchildren: Lori Haygarth, Kyla Taylor, Darren Campbell, Ryan Gartner, Tyler Campbell and Brynn Campbell. The Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. The reception was held in the Knox Presbyterian Church. Donations in memory of Eva may be made to the Jubilee Home Patient Comfort Fund or to a charity of the donors choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
