SCHONHOFER ~ Jack Schonhofer was born October 20, 1938 in Halkirk, Alberta to Sebastian and Matilda (Shaffer) Schonhofer. Jack was born into a family of 10 children, six boys and four girls. Jack was raised on a farm near Coronation, Alberta. Over the years Jack worked at various jobs until 1965 when he started Jack's Oilfield. At this time Jack boarded at Harvey Salt' s in Lloydminster, while his young family lived in Edmonton. Then Jack rented the house across from the Maidstone Police Station where Dianna and Lynn Rhinehart live. On September 16, 1963 Jack married Nora Jean Nelson in Edmonton. From the marriage they had three handsome little boys. Robert James was born in 1963, Michael Wayne in 1966 and Jeffrey Jack in 1968. In April 1970 Nora left Maidstone with Jeff. In 1971 Jack needed a childcare provider for his two small sons, Robert and Michael. This is how he met Beverly Ann Rodh. Jack owned a trailer on the west side of Maidstone on what is now known as King Street. Bev went to work for Jack full-time starting June 1, 1972. Jack and Bev purchased a new house on the east side of Maidstone in 1975. Jack received his welding, electrical and plumbing certifications from Lakeland College. In 1975 Jack started working for Craftex Construction where he worked for the next 33 years. He obtained his Journeyman in Carpentry in 1984. In 1977 Jack sold ]ack's Oilfield to L&L. After Jack sold his oilfield company he bought Allan's Store 13 miles north of Maidstone. He thought Bev needed something to do. He owned Allan's Store from 1978 until 1983. May 1981, Jack and Bev purchased their house in Waseca. Jack worked for Craftex and finished the house, basement and garage. The rest of the family moved to Waseca in September 1981, while the Ewart's rented the store for a year. Robert, his wife Brenda and Michael kept the store running until it was auctioned off in 1983. Jack and Bev celebrated their marriage on April 24, 1982 in their new hometown of Waseca. Over the years Jack and Bev raised nine children- Robert, Michael, Jeff (who moved home in 1984], Jennifer, Lisa, Cassandra, Victoria, Tyrel, and Alexis. Jennifer Jacqueline was born in 1976, Lisa Lorrainne in 1980, and Cassandra Elizabeth in 1986. In 1997, Victoria and Tyrel came to live with Jack and Bev. Alexis followed in 2006. Jack leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Beverly, his sons: Robert (Susan), Jeff (Leah), and Tyrel, his daughters: Jennifer, Lisa [Deder), Cassandra, Victoria (Joseph), and Alexis. He also leaves to mourn his passing, his grandchildren: Melinda, Stephanie, Victoria, Tyrel, Jeffery, Jamie, Parker, Abby, Jada, Joshua, Lauren, Paige, Mia, and Sawyer and his great-granddaughters: Brooklynn, Kamryn, Alexis and Hailey. Jack is survived by his uncles: Alvin Speers and Herb Rodh; his brothers: Simon and Marg Schonhofer, and George Schonhofer; brothers-in-law: Jim and Sandra Rodh, Bill and Linda Rodh, Ray and Veronica Rodh, David and Shirley Rodh, Ronald and Connie Rodh, and Blair and Vi Houlette in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his parents Sebastian and Matilda Schonhofer; father and mother~in-law, Herman and Elsie Rodh; son, Michael Schonhofer; nephews Trevor Unger and Douglas Schonhofer; sisters: Lydia and Ralph Johnson, Mary Houlette, Joan and Harold Derkson, and Lena and Nick Kitt; and brothers: John, Fred, and Frank Schonhofer. Shortly before he died, Jack lost one of his closest friends, Tony Myer. Jack will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Waseca was fortunate to have a friend like you. I cannot promise to keep up your trend. But I will do my best from here on end. I'm sorry to say, I should hove done better. But compared to you, there was no other. From the bikes and the toys and the pink princess gowns And coffee with the ladies, You know, Jack- you are this town. To sit at your table no peace could be greater. And like always, Jack, I'll see you later. Thank you to Reverend Ean Kasper for doing the service, and coming to spend so much time with us. Thank you also to the Maidstone/Lloydminster RCMP, the Maidstone Ambulance Staff, Lynn from Victims Services in Lloydminster, Bobbilee Martin and Walter Klassen for bringing the grandchildren home, and the Waseca Hall Board and community of Waseca for the lunch. A special thank-you goes out to Lois Myer for bringing Jack home and being such a wonderful friend. Thank you to Joel and Glenn McCaw and McCaw Funeral Service for organizing the funeral. If we have missed anybody we are sorry but please know everything was greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
