SQUAIR ~ It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Ernest William Squair of Lloydminster, Alberta on Friday, December 6, 2013 at the age of 87 years. Ernie was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan on December 20, 1925 to Colin and Beatrice Squair. Ernie farmed and raised Horned Herefords in the Bear Island district all his life, except for the few winters he went logging in Eastern Canada and a stint in the army at Camp Shiloh, Manitoba. Ernie took great pride and joy in his family, farm and cattle. He and Faye loved to dance, socialize and travel. Ernie leaves to mourn his passing: his son, Darrell (Shirley); his daughters, Denise (Allen) Earle, Lori (Brad) Murray; his grandchildren, Lesley, Clinton (Renee), Garth (Rebekah), Owen (Mellissa) Squair, Kelsey and Sean Earle, Robyn and Nicole Murray; great-grandchildren, Cassadie, Hayden, Ava, Quin, Issabella, Cash and Logan Squair; his sister, Cynthia Donald; brothers, Eric (Norma), Ian (Vivian) and Hugh (Mellitta); as well as numerous other relatives. Ernie was predeceased by his wife, Faye; his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Winn Wilkinson; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Norman McLean; and his brother-in-law, Hamish Donald. The Funeral Service for Ernie was conducted from the Grace United Church, Lloydminster on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 2:00pm with Reverend Paul DuVal officiating. The eulogy was given by granddaughter, Kelsey Earle. The soloist was Kelsey Earle, singing "Danny Boy," accompanied by organist, Eileen Evans. Sean Earle and Nicole Murray did the readings. The hymns sung were "In the Garden," "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." The active pallbearers were Ernie's grandchildren, Lesley Squair, Clinton Squair, Garth Squair, Owen Squair, Kelsey Earle, Sean Earle, Robyn Murray, and Nicole Murray. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. The reception was held at the Legacy Center following the interment. Donations in Ernie's memory may be made to the Pioneer Lodge Patient Comfort Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks: The family would like to thank our friends and relatives for their support, food, flowers and donations made in Ernie's memory. Thank you all for being there for us. Thank you to Reverend DuVal for the lovely service; Eileen for the wonderful music; Kelsey for the eulogy and her beautiful solo and Sean and Nicole for the readings. Thank you to the grandchildren for being the pallbearers. Thank you to the Grace United Ladies for the lovely lunch. Special thank you to the Pioneer Lodge for your wonderful care of Ernie, he enjoyed his time with you. A Special Thank you to Glenn McCaw and staff for your guidance, support and understanding ~ it made this difficult time easier for us all, thank you again.
