KENYON ~ Margaret Kenyon, affectionately known as Peggy, was born in Lloydminster on March 12, 1920, the fourth daughter of Frank and Hyacinth Wood. She passed away at the Jubilee Home, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on January 28, 2014 at the age of ninety-three years, at peace with God and the world. She grew up on the farm in the Broughton district NE of Lloydminster, where there were always lots of love and companionship from her parents and six of her eight siblings. After graduation she went to Normal school (teachers' college) and went on to many teaching jobs. While at a teaching position in Lone Rock where she stayed with the Bill Kenyon family, she met Fred. They were married December 24, 1941. Fred was working in a shipbuilding yard in Vancouver at the time and Peggy went to Vancouver during Christmas break to be married. Over the years they made several places their home: Senlac, Unity, Vanscoy and finally they settled in Lloydminster. In 1958 they moved to the farm SW6-49-01-W4, SW of Lloydminster, where they remained until about 1988 when they moved into town. Fred passed away in 1990. Peggy moved first to the Hallsholme senior apartment and then the Pioneer Lodge. For the past three years she has been at the Jubilee Home. Peggy had many interests that kept her busy. She was always an avid reader, which she kept up until very recently when she became unable to. She was a prolific Knitter, and she took great pride in her garden and flowers. She loved to camp and travel and after retirement made trips to England to visit her sister Darla, and several trips to Ontario to visit Elaine's family. She loved to visit and keep in touch with people. She played an active role in the Golden Valley Community Club, as well as with the church. Wherever she was, she joined the Anglican church and took an active role. She loved singing the hymns. Peggy will be sadly missed by: her four children, David (Twila) Kenyon, Cliff (Maureen) Kenyon, Sid (Pam) Kenyon, and Wilf (Glenda) Kenyon; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; four brothers, Harry Wood, Kit Wood, Bob Wood and Rupert Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: her husband, Fred in 1990; daughter, Elaine in 1992; two grandchildren, Travis and Fred; four sisters, Joanne, Darla, Janet and Gerry. The Funeral Service for Peggy was conducted from St. John's Anglican Church, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse officiating. Cam and Kerry Shapansky gave the eulogy. The hymns sung were "Jesus Loves Me," "How Great Thou Art" and "Mansion Over the Hilltop" accompanied by organist, Pat Skinner. The honorary pallbearers were grandchildren: Jaylene Shapansky, Tanya Kenyon, Terri Spivak and Shawn Kenyon as well as all of her Golden Valley friends. The active pallbearers were Cam Shapansky, Kerry Shapansky, Mike Kenyon, Chris Kenyon, Jason Kenyon and Monty Kenyon. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.
