Obituary of Karen Fischer

FISCHER ~ Karen Elaine Fischer passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the age of 67 years. Karen was born in Provost, Alberta on April 22, 1946 to Marie and Louis Sandmaier. Karen leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Albert; daughter, Carla (Greg) Cookman; son, Brian (Misty) Fischer; five grandchildren: Jessica and Shayna Cookman and Janessa, Jared and Nate Fischer; brother, Keith Sandmaier and his friend Barb; sister, Sylvia (Gilbert) Fischer and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Marie Sandmaier. The Prayer Vigil for Karen was conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic, Lloydminster, Alberta at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 3, 2014. The Mass of Christian Burial was conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Father Rajappa Savariappan officiating. Jessica and Shayna Cookman gave the eulogy. The music was accompanied by pianist, Melanie Pellerin and soloist, Lani Burry. A Nurses Honor Guard was in attendance. The honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren. The active pallbearers were Corwin Fischer, Wesley Schmidt, Jessica Cookman, Shayna Cookman, Aaron Sandmaier and Derek Fischer. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Donations in Karen's memory may be made to Lloydminster Palliative Care. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The family of the Late Karen Fischer wish to express our deepest appreciation to those who have offered kindness, encouraging visits, comforting phone calls, lovely cards, food trays and baking we received. We would also like to thank-you for the masses and donations made in Karen's memory. A heartfelt thank-you to the nurses and the medical staff for providing Karen with warm comforting care during her time in the hospital and to Dr. Du Plooy and his colleagues for the care Karen received. A special thank-you to all of the Nurses that participated in the honor guard at the service. It was true testament to the nursing profession and love that you share as colleagues and friends Thank-you to Father Rajappa Savariappan of St. Anthony's Catholic Church for his comforting words and mass, pianist Melanie Pellerin for the nice music, and soloist Lani Burry for the beautiful singing. Thank-you to Audrey Gibbs from St. Anthony's Church for the support and guidance in preparation for the services. Thank-you to the Legacy Centre for providing a wonderful luncheon. A special thank-you to Dean Wenzel and the McCaw Staff for their comfort and compassion. We are very grateful for all the love and the support we have received from our family and friends in this time of sorrow. Words cannot express our gratitude. God Bless You!
