Obituary of Clifford "Cliff" Ferguson

Clifford “Cliff” Jack Ferguson passed away peacefully at the Battleford District Care Centre, Feb 25, 2024, at the age of 69 years. 

Cliff was born to Jack and Helen (Kraft) Ferguson June 10, 1954 in Lashburn, SK. 

Cliff is survived by: his spouse, Rosemarie Schlekewy; daughter, Amanda (Stacey) Derksen; grandson, Charlie of Hay Lakes, AB; son, Adam (Anji) Ferguson; granddaughter, Lynn of Edmonton, AB; son, Brett Ferguson of Edmonton, AB; siblings, Richard (Birthe) Ferguson of Lloydminster, AB, Evelyn Herle of Wetaskiwin, AB,  Judy Tennant (Rick LeGrow) of Markdale, Ont, Norma (Dave) Haines of Beaumont, AB;  aunt, Vi (Kraft) Bradley of Lloydminster, AB and Verna (Kraft) Collinge of Lloydminster, AB; numerous nieces,  nephews and cousins; step mom, Betty Ferguson of Vermilion, AB; four step sisters and four step brothers and their families; Rosemarie's family, five sisters, two brothers, one brother-in-law and their families.

Cliff was predeceased by: parents, Jack (2007) and Helen (1987) Ferguson; brother, Howard (1996); brother-in-law, Dan Herle; his grandparents, Archie and Alberta (Millhouse) Ferguson and Albert and Mary Kraft; aunts, Adeline (Kraft) Art Sinclair and Jean (Ferguson) Hugh Gray; uncles, Allan Kraft and Harold Bradley; Rosemarie's parents and one sister and one brother.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Cliff will be conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM. If you are unable to attend in person, you may view the live streaming of the service posted on McCaw Funeral Service website under Cliff's obituary at the time of service.

Cliff was born to Jack and Helen (Kraft) Ferguson June 10, 1954 in Lashburn, SK. Cliff went to school at Lashburn Public School and Lashburn High School from 1960-1972. He apprenticed as an electrician at Kondro Electric in Lloydminster and Skinner Electric Lashburn, SK. He attended Moose Jaw Technical Institute for his e1ectrlca1 classes from 1978 - 1982. He graduated Feb 2, 1982 as a Journeyman Electrician with an lnterprovincial Class. He spent many years working in the oilfield in the Provost area and raised his children for 16 years with his exwife Terry. He moved to Lloydminster In 1997, met his new love, Rosemarie and spent the next 27 years working in and around the area in shop maintenance and electrical.

In 2017 Cliff suffered a severe stroke that affected his short term memory. For the next seven years, Jubilee Home in Lloydminster and the Battleford District Care Centre in Battleford, SK, became his new homes until his passing on Feb 25, 2024. He adapted well to his new homes and felt comfortable and safe there. 

Cliff was community minded and enjoyed volunteering at golf tournaments in Provost. When he moved to Lloydminster he got involved in the Barr Colony Heritage Society. He volunteered at the Museum in the shop doing restorations and on Heritage day helping with pancake breakfasts. He loved doing electrical for Habitat For Humanity during house construction. He helped the Girl Guides working Bingo's and doing maintenance at the hall and at the camp. He also walked In the MS Walk many times. Cliff was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Lloydminster German Heritage Society. He enjoyed giving a helping hand to neighbors and friends whenever needed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. The yard became his greatest joy, always keeping it in perfect shape. 

Cliff was a spiritual person and had great faith and enjoyed going to RC Mass at Jubilee Home & the District Care Centre. He always ended his day with prayers. 

Donations in memory of Cliff may be made to Battleford District Care Centre - Recreation Department, Kiwanis Club of Lloydminster or donor's charity of choice.
