HINCH: Mrs. Hilda May Hinch of Neilburg, Saskatchewan passed away in the Cutknife Special Care Home on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the age of 92 years.
She married Bill Hinch on July 29, 1939. They raised two children Elaine and Glen. They lived in the East Manitou District until 1971 then made their home in Neilburg.
Hilda, in her younger days, was a member of the P.D.Q. Club, which arranged socials and card parties in the district. She later became a member of the Sunshine Club, whose members mostly worked for the local branches of the Canadian Red Cross. They made quilts every two weeks and sold or sent them overseas, along with other supplies such as knitted socks, mitts, and special gloves for gunners, to the Red Cross Depots. The club also held teas and bazaars in the school and fall suppers. In 1954 the club was reorganized and then became the East Manitou Womens Auxiliary and eventually the East Manitou Ladies Club, which still exists today.
Hilda enjoyed her horses, riding them to and from school, cooking, of which there was lots for everybody, sewing, quilting and watching her grandkids and great grandkids in whatever they participated .
