Obituary of Marjorie Kilback

Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie (Heinrichs) Kilback July 17, 1942 – September 9, 2006 It is with profound sorrow that the family of Marjorie Kilback (nee Heinrichs) announce her sudden and unexpected passing on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, at the age of 64 years. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Brian; daughter Christine (Cam) Drever of Saskatoon and their children Ellen and Kathryn; son Keith (Pamela) Kilback of Regina and their son Simon; son Daniel Kilback of Lloydminster; brother Wesley (Elsie) Heinrichs of Saskatoon; sister Audrey (Gary) Gullickson of Saskatoon; brother Clifton (Terri) Heinrichs of Vernon, BC; mother-in-law Edith Kilback and sister-in-law Joy Sherbino of Biggar, SK; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and countless close friends and acquaintances. Marjorie was born in Hepburn, Saskatchewan and lived her childhood years in Hague and her teen years in Unity. Her childhood was happily spent with her parents and siblings, with her large extended family, and with her many good friends. After graduating from Unity High School, Marj attended Teacher’s College at the University of Saskatchewan, and received her Standard “A” Teacher’s Certificate. She taught in probably one of the last rural one-room schools in Saskatchewan, at Sunny Glen near Unity, and then in Biggar, SK, where she met Brian. They were married in Saskatoon in July 1965. The family moved to Lloydminster, AB in 1972, and have called that city home ever since. Marj’s great gift was music, which she shared unselfishly with everyone. Music filled her life and her home. Although Marj gave up teaching school when her children came along, she was at heart a teacher, and was to find her truest calling in teaching piano to others, something she did for 20 years. She found satisfaction in seeing her students’ progress, and was very proud of them. It was with her students that she shared and nurtured a love of music. In addition to playing piano in church, she also played at many funerals, and in doing so was able to share her gift with those who were most in need of comfort. Music was her own personal ministry that she carried on quietly and without fanfare. But not without great effect on those who were listening. Marj loved life, and it showed. People and relationships were important to her. She didn’t sweat the small stuff. She loved to laugh. She loved colour. She was an exceptional woman whose life touched all of us who were fortunate enough to have known her. The Bible tells us that if you want to be great in God’s kingdom, you must learn to be a servant to all. Marj was truly a good and faithful servant. Her time on this earth was all too short, and she will be missed beyond measure. Thank you to everyone who provided food, sent flowers and cards, and gave our family unconditional love and support after Marjorie’s sudden passing. Your care and concern has helped to encourage us all during this difficult time. Sincerely, Brian Kilback and Family Donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to the Arthitis Association.
