Obituary of Polly Matiash

Polly Matiash was born on the family farm in the Calder District, Saskatchewan on September 26, 1914. She was the second eldest child of Tedor and Sophie (nee Gawdun) Klym, Ukrainian pioneers of Saskatchewan. Raised on the family farm, she attended Liberal School in the district. At an early age Polly went to work out as farm help doing different types of chores, a few years later she moved to Toronto were she was employed in a munition factory. She then returned to Saskatchewan and on October 31, 1943 she was united in marriage to John Matiash. The couple settled in a small farm in the Calder District till 1964, when they moved to Yorkton, Saskatchewan were Polly was employed at Chicken and Turkey processing plant till she retired. She continued to reside in Yorkton till 1987, when she moved to Lloydminster, Alberta to be near her family.
She enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting in her spare time, and making sure she had Cabbage Rolls and perogies made for her grandson and his family. She also took great pride in her little yard and her flowers.
Predeceased by her beloved husband John on May 26, 1968, her brothers George and John Klym and Bill Miller, also one sister Mary.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Marge and her husband Aubrey, her grandson Dale and his wife Nicole and two great grandchildren Morgan and Jacob; two sisters Dora Mostoway of Downsview, Ontario and Elizabeth Poulson of Carson, California; one sister-in-law Mary Kowula of Regina, Saskatchewan along with many nieces and nephews.
