OBITUARY Squires, Florence Longton (Taylor) (Brady) Florence Longton Squires, age 86 years, past away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2006 at the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Facility in Lloydminster, Alberta. Florence was predeceased by her first husband, Clifton Brady (1967) and by her second husband, Frank Squires (2002), mother (1920), father (1961), sister Jessie and brother-in-law Henry Reid, nephew Gerald Reid and son-in-law, John Fenton. She is survived by her daughter Sylvia Fenton of Coquitlam, BC, son Kenneth (Kathy) Brady of Calgary, five grandchildren: Shawn (Gayle) Brady, Tracy (Derek Merkley) Brady of Calgary, Steven Fenton, Roberta Fenton (Marcelo Machado), and Kelly Fenton of Coquitlam, and great grandchildren Carley and Connor Brady, Jenna and Tess Merkley and Dylan Machado. Florence, born in Lashburn Saskatchewan on March 17, 1920, was the youngest daughter of Elizabeth (Longton) and Robert Taylor. She grew up on her father´s farm in the Forest Bank district, seven miles north of Waseca, Saskatchewan. Florence attended Forest Bank School, completed high school in North Battleford and went on to Normal school in Saskatoon for teacher training, thus following in the footsteps of her grandfather, mother, and several aunts and uncles in the Longton Family. Florence taught school at Redfield and later Mayfair rural school where she met her future husband Clifton Brady, whom she married in 1942. They soon bought the Taylor farm in Forest Bank, raised their family, Sylvia and Ken, and remained there for 24 happy years. Florence resumed teaching, first at Forest Bank and then Waseca. After the death of Cliff, she sold the farm and continued her love of teaching at Marsden and Lashburn, Sask. Florence met and married retired Welsh jeweler Frank Squires in 1969. They spent 33 happy retirement years together-20 winters at their home in Arizona, trips to Wales and New Zealand, and several years at their final home together, the Pioneer Lodge in Lloydminster. Music was always a central part of her life. During her years with husband Frank, Florence was an active member of the church choir in Lloydminster and also Mesa, Arizona and continued to entertain and give pleasure with her piano playing and singing until she moved to the Dr. Cooke Facility. Florence loved to praise the Lord in both music and song, and truly and sincerely loved her Lord and Savior. Florence´s greatest joy in life was her family. Her gentleness, patience, commitment, and humility were an example for all of us. The memorial service will be held at Southridge Community Church in Lloydminster on Friday, September 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Mike Morgan officiating. We, Florences family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff who cared for mom at the Pioneer Lodge, the Lloydminster Hospital and the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Facility, a special thankyou to Dr. Chan and to her trusted friend Brian Kilback, June Hope, and two very special freinds, Alice and Ray Jack of Lashburn, and to other friends who visited mom when we could not be with her.
