Dear Carline and Gary and family-- Oh, we are so sorry for your loss, know our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our own meager words fail at a time like this, but these verses were a great comfort to us during a time of grief, and I pray that they will be some comfort to you as well. All we can do sometimes is bow our heads numbly in our sorrow and wait for God. I pray that you are wrapped up in His arms and feel His presence, caring and peace. from Lamentattions 3:16-33 "I'll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes, the poison I've swallowed. I remember it all—oh, how well I remember— the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there's one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: God's loyal love couldn't have run out, his merciful love couldn't have dried up. They're created new every morning. How great your faithfulness! I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over). He's all I've got left. God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks. It's a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God. It's a good thing when you're young to stick it out through the hard times. When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don't ask questions: Wait for hope to appear. Don't run from trouble. Take it full-face. The "worst" is never the worst. Why? Because the Master won't ever walk out and fail to return.

It's still hard to believe that he won't be coming or going from work or out biking when I come to visit. My anguish and sympathy is otherwise difficult to express. I will miss him, but more than that, I am upset for your loss, if that makes any sense. I wish I were there.

I was so saddened to hear of Lucas' passing. I can't imagine how unfair it must seem for him to have been taken at such a young age however, you can take comfort that was loved by so many and that he is now Home and at peace. I have fond memories of Lucas and I will never forget that smile that could light up a room. Please accept my deepest condolences to all of you in your time of need.
