In loving memory of Melvin Manford Smith who passed away July 17, 2006 in the Lloydminster Hospital. Melvin and his twin brother, Marvin were born May 25, 1936 at the family home near Deer Creek, SK. Mel moved to Lloydminster in 1950. Mel is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Lois (Burzynski). Two daughters Myrna (Kevin) Manchur of Innisfail and daughters: Tara, Kim and Cammi; Marcine (Randy) Murphy and daughters: Natasha and Carmen; one son Marvin (Lynne) Smith and son Lonnie, and special girls Terri Beattie and Deb Williams; two sisters: Dolly (Harry) Kashuba, Thelma Maess and brother Vic (Lynne) Smith; one aunt Doris Blouin, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents George and Arlene Smith in 1991, two brothers Marvin in 1937, Jim (Bud) in 1990. Three sisters Patsy Kazlaskas in 1996, Marj Oswell in 1997, and Opal Everson in 2000, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held in the Grace United Church in Lloydminster July 20, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Norm Laird officiating. Interment followed at the Lloydminster City Cemetery. Songs were provided by Kim (Granddaughter), the Grace United Church Choir and organist Irene Knowlson. The eulogy was presented by cousin, Charlie Wicker. Honorary pallbearers were all his buddies from coffee row. The active pallbearers were his greatest passion, all six grandchildren. Lunch was served by the Moose Hall. Mel will be sadly missed by all who knew him but a special thought taken from the card from the honorary pallbearers Those we love never die, for as long as we live and remember, they are with us. Card of Thanks Our heartfelt thanks for the expressions of love and sympathy shown us during Mel’s illness and passing. Thank-you ‘all for the flowers, card, food, phone calls and donations received. Thank-you to Reverend Norm Laird, Grace United Church Choir, and Irene Knowlson for the very thoughtful and caring service. We would also like to thank the Moose Hall for the wonderful lunch supplied. A very special thank you to McCaw’s Funeral Home for our special time in need. Heartfelt thank-you’s to Dr. Kerlis, Home Care and staff at the Lloydminster Hospital. Especially the staff on third floor in his final hours. Thank-you to all the honorary pallbearers for all the thoughtfulness before and after Mel’s passing. To Charlie Wicker for presenting the eulogy. A very proud and sincere thank-you to the grandchildren of Mel. Grandpa would have been very honored to see the strength and support portrayed by each and everyone of you, and especially Lonnie for his guidance. A very special thank you to all who attended the funeral, to all who travelled from so far away.
