SHAPANSKY: Laura Agnes Shapansky of Lloydminster passed away July 3, 2006 in the Vermilion Hospital in her 86th year. Laura was born on November 26, 1920 in Laura, Saskatchewan. She is survived by: five children: Lyle Shapansky (Wenda) of Arva, Ontario and children Kerry (Mandy) Shapansky, Cameron (Deb) Shapansky and Jaylene Shapansky; Les Shapansky (Linda) of Owen Sound, Ontario and children Boyd (Suzanne) Shapansky; Brad (Jodi) Shapansky and Brent Shapansky; Teresa (Ray) Russell and children; Cindy (Curtis) McMinnis, Allan (Laurie) Campbell, and Tayna (Randy) Borle; Trev (Wayne) Simm and children Laura and Wade Nichol and Layne Simm; Trudy (Ken) Prior and children Lindsay (Shawn) Hines, Michelle (Dave Beal); sixteen great grandchildren. Laura is also survived by one brother Les (Ethel) Sutton and one sister Barb (Fern) Fourtier. In the year 2000, Laura was predeceased by her loving husband, Abe. She is also predeceased by her parents, Cyril and Laura Sutton; her brothers Tony, Syd, Cyril, Ken, Frank Sutton and one baby sister May Sutton; daughter-in-law Elaine Shapansky (nee Kenyon) and one great grandson, Timothy Shapansky. The service for Laura Shapansky was conducted from the First Baptist Church, Lloydminster on Thursday, July 6, 2006 with Pastor Mark Breitkreuz officiating. The eulogy was given by her son, Les Shapansky and grandson, Boyd Shapansky. On behalf of all the grandchildren, Lindsay Hines presented a slide show in tribute of Laura's many attributes in her life. The presentation was accompanied with Mel and Penny singing Grandma. The organist was Ruth Knispel and hymns sung were Amazing Grace, and How Great Thou Art. The pallbearers were grandchildren - Kerry, Cam and Jay Shapansky, Boyd, Brad and Brent Shapansky, Cindy McMinnis, Tanya Borle and Allen Campbell, Laura and Wade Nichol and Layne Simm, Lindsay Hines and Michelle Beal. Interment followed in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS On behalf of the Shapansky families we extend a sincere thank you to friends, relatives and neighbors for support, phone calls, food, flowers, cards, donations and most of all being there with us and for us. Thanks firstly, to the Vermilion Valley Lodge for their wonderful care since August of last year. You have a marvelous facility with exceptionally caring staff. We cannot thank you enough; we know you loved our dear mom. Secondly, to the Vermilion Hospital, both Doctor Stewart Hunter and to the 24-hour staff who cared for mom during this past month. It is so heart warming to know that in mom's last days, she received personal love and care from Doctor Hunter and all the nursing staff involved. Thank you Mel and Penny for taking time out of your busy schedules to come and pay tribute to mom with our rendition of the song Grandma; you truly did a marvelous job. Thank you to the First Baptist Church and to Pastor Mark; your personal touches made the service so wonderful. Your kindness is appreciated; we know what you shared with mom was truly special. To Pastor Doug, Doreen and Ken, a huge thank you, as well for all your organization to help make mom's funeral a true celebration of life and treating our family with so much love and kindness. Thank you to Ruth Knispel for playing the organ and to the ladies of the church for a fantastic lunch. A special thank you as well, to Ray and Deb Tatro for all your extra efforts during our family celebration; you are always there to lend your kindness. Thank you also to the McCaw family, Glenn and Dave, you made a very difficult time so stressless, yet so personal as you have known our family for such a long time. Your caring and sincere support is greatly appreciated. Thank you to all the Grandchildren - You know You were all Grandma's Favourites . Mom and Dad are once again Together and that brings us inner peace.
