Eulogy of Nicodemus John Wack We would like to welcome you all to the celebration of Dad's life we know that you all played an important part in his life and we are glad you could be here today. Dad was born August 28, 1923 in Sedley, Saskatchewan to Ignatz and Annie the 11th child of 14. His first 12 years were spent on the farm near Fuselier, south of Macklin, when in 1935 Grandpa dismantled the family home and loaded it on wagons moving north to the Rex District, where he rebuilt it and it still stands today. Dad attended school at Rex for half a year when he knew he had learned all they could possibly teach him. Dad went on to spend winters traveling and working in lumber camps from Northern Alberta to Ontario and summers back home. In 1952 when his dad passed away he stayed on the family farm to pursue his passion of the farming and ranching life which he has passed on to all us boys. To Dad's surprise the Rex school became an important place when a young lady by the name of Katherine Degenhardt caught his attention. After a short courtship they were married November 24, 1955. The years between 1957 & 1963 were busy with the birth of one daughter, four sons and the building of a new Nelson Lumber home. There was always some form of trouble us four boys were in contrary to Audrey's best efforts. We never did learn how to stay out of trouble but we sure learned how to choose the right switch for our punishment. Over the years Dad would try breaking any horse to drive, at times finding that they weren't all meant to be broke. On one occasion Mom and Dad were dressed to attend a wedding leaving us boys to do the chores with the team. Before Mom and Dad left the yard we had a runaway with the horses and sleigh making a couple of laps in the barn yard then each horse choosing a side of a power pole where they left the sleigh. We always enjoyed taking lunches to the field where Dad spent hours working on the open air tractor leaving him black except for what his cap covered. Dad always love to joke and tease with anyone and he had the uncanny ability to tell stories with a straight face leaving us wondering what was true and false. We will always remember the laughter Dad. Nicodemus John Wack passed away peacefully with his family close on May 3, 2006 in the Dr. Cooke.
