OBITUARY FOR ALEX NOHNYCHUK Alex Nohnychuk passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the age of 86 years. Alex was born on September 25, 1919 at home in the Ispas district. Alex and Annie Nohnychuk were married on November 13, 1941. They farmed in the Two Hills area until 1946 when they moved to the Marwayne area. Alex and Annie farmed until 1980 when they retired and moved to Marwayne. This is when they were able to pursue their passion for travelling, fishing and playing cards. Alex is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Annie; seven children: Ernie and Barbara Nohnychuk; Sheila and David Sorochan; Jimmy and Debi Nohnychuk; Sharon and Dale Gunderson; Rodney and Karen Nohnychuk; Kenny and Dolores Nohnychuk; Shann and Rob Filgate; 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren as well as numerous other relatives. Alex was predeceased by an infant daughter, Irene, on April 1, 1943 and one grandson, Shane Sorochan, in February, 2005. The funeral service for Alex was conducted from the Marwayne Community Hall, Marwayne, Alberta on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Bob Aldrich officiating. Interment followed in the Marwayne Cemetery. A eulogy was given by Dale Gunderson. A poem was read by Ernie Nohnychuk. Active pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were the Elks and everyone who shared in his life. Cards of Thanks Alex’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the food, prayers and sympathies extended to everyone during this difficult time. A special thank you to Reverend Bob Aldrich, Joanne Horton and Yvette Barnett for the wonderful service; the 3rd floor staff at the Lloydminster Hospital and Dr. Kerlis; the Royal Purple ladies for serving lunch and Dale McCaw of the McCaw Funeral Home.
