B I O G R A P H Y SMITHSON: Doris Marie Smithson passed away in the Maidstone Hospital on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the age of 90 years. Doris is loved and mourned by her daughters Vicki Vardy (husband Don) of Warman, SK. and Cleo Smith (husband Gerald), Drayton Valley, AB. Her sons, Allan (wife Janice), Saskatoon, SK. Ralph (partner Carol), Edmonton, AB. By her sisters, Vonda (husband Bud) Tugwell, Uclulete, BC, Ruth (husband Marvin) Paulus and Helen (husband Dan) Gordey both of Creston, BC. And by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was previously deceased by her husband Jim Smithson and her sisters Rowene Livingstone, Neilburg, SK., Grace McLean, and brother Robert Ball both of Calgary, AB. The funeral service for Doris was conducted from the Neilburg Community Hall, Neilburg, Saskatchewan on Friday, October 7, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Tom Poppleton officiating. A eulogy was given by Ralph Smithson. Hymns sung were “Amazing Grace,” “Bringing In The Sheaves,” and “Lord of the Dance,” accompanied on the organ by Marcie Park. A solo “Danny Boy,” which was one of Gramma’s favorites was sung by granddaughter Sarah Vardy. The Neilburg Community Choir was also in attendance. Active pallbearers were: Don Vardy, Gerald Smith, Scott Smith, Austin Thomas, John Smithson and Brent Smithson. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks The family of Doris Smithson would like to thank the Neilburg United Church Ladies for providing a delicious lunch and to everyone who sent cards, flowers and made donations in memory of Doris. Heartfelt thanks to Glenn and Dale McCaw and the staff of McCaw Funeral Service for their support during this difficult time. The Doris Smithson Family Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
