B I O G R A P H Y MILLER: Shirley Marie Miller passed away in the Vermilion Health Centre, Vermilion, Alberta on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the age of 79 years. Shirley is survived by: one daughter Teresa Miller of Thunder Bay, ON; one sister Pat Bootsman and her family Les Bootsman and his wife Kathy and their daughter Nicole; her Aunt Carol Coldwell of Kelowna as well as many dear cousins and friends. Shirley was predeceased by: her father in 1960, her mother in 2000 and her companion Alec McIntyre in 2000. The funeral service for Shirley was conducted from the Kitscoty Agriplex, Kitscoty, Alberta on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Bob Aldrich officiating. A eulogy was given by Gwen Jerrett. Her sister Pat recalled some memories of the times they shared. A duet "In The Garden" was sung by Carmalita Swan and Marlene Risling. Hymns sung were: “He Hideth My Soul,” "Precious Lord, Take My Hand," and "Sweet Hour of Prayer," accompanied on the Piano by John Scott. Active pallbearers were: Ralph Cooper, Glenn Miller, Stu Jamison, Mac Johnston, Chuck Jarrett and Les Bootsman. Interment followed in the Kitscoty Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone for all the love and support we have received in our loss. We give special thanks to Rev. Bob Aldrich who upheld us in our sorrow and provided his love and support; - To the choir; Carol Mackintosh, Alec Johnston, Gail Hiltz, Jean and Stan Crossley and Jeane Hunter for leading us through the hymns; -To Marlene Risling and Carmalita Swan for their touching rendition of “In The Garden.” - To John Scott for his gentle and inspiring music on the piano - To Gwen Jarrett for sharing her memories of her friendship with Shirley; - To Murray Evans (and those who may have assisted him) who arranged for the hall and took care of the details - To Sharon Earl and her helpers who helped move the piano - To Debbie Venance, Marilyn Mitchell and Shauna Anderson for organizing the lunch and those who helped prepare it; - To the pallbearers, many thanks for giving of yourselves for this purpose; - To Dr. Kerlis and medical staff of the Lloydminster Hospital; Dr. Stewart-Hunter and staff of the Vermilion Hospital and the E.M.S. people of The Vermilion Ambulance Service; - To Helen James and her helpers at “Helens’ Place”; - To the nurses and staff of “ Islay Care Center,” I know you have all been very patient and kind; - To Dale McCaw and the McCaw family for providing kind and professional service. Shirley knew many people during her life, and I would like to thank a few that were particularly important to her, Chuck and Gwen Jarrett and their boys, Norma and Mac, Nita, Jessie, Pearl Watt, Betty Fifield, Doreen McKinnon, cousin’s Margaret (Lyle) and Colleen Elliott who have always stuck by her over the years. We will all miss her. Thank you also for the phone calls, cards, donations and beautiful flowers.
