Obituary of Terry McKone

Terry Letitia McKone passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the age of 47 years. Terry is survived by: four daughters: Becky and her husband Jeff Junker of Lloydminster; Danielle Reece of Lloydminster; Kirsten Reece and Mark Leonard of Lashburn, and Casey Reece of Lloydminster; one granddaughter, Lillian Ava Leonard; her father Earl McKone; three sisters: Valerie McKone of Canmore; Bonnie and her husband Dave Roberge of Calgary; Lori and her husband Kevin Gagnon of Lashburn; nieces and nephews: Tobi (Kevin) Hollingworth, Tony Holmen (Jenn Westerby); Erin, Kyle and Elyse Roberge; Ceanna and Alissa Gagnon; great nieces and nephews: Justin, Tyler, Tyson and Rylan Hollingworth; Matthew, Ryan Holmen, and Tanah Westerby; and many friends and relatives. Terry was predeceased by her brother Lyle in 1994 and her mother Vi in 2002. The memorial service for Terry was conducted from the Lashburn Community Hall on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Norm Laird officiating. A eulogy was given by Jo Klassen and Mimi McMaster. The Lashburn Community Choir was in attendance, with organist Edith Klippenstein. The hymns and special music selections were: I will Remember You, Great Is Thy Faithfulness, Jesus Loves Me, and Ave Maria. Honorary pallbearers were all those who knew and loved Terry. A private family interment at the Lashburn Cemetery was followed by lunch at the Lashburn Community Hall, provided by families and friends of the Tyrone District. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. Terry was born in the Lashburn Hospital on August 22, 1957, and was raised in the Tyrone District of Lashburn. Terry loved the countryside where she was born, and was proud to be a part of her farming heritage. She took joy in all beautiful things: animals, nature, and gardening. She had a great appreciation of music, and loved to sing and write poetry. Terry loved to cook for family and friends, took a special interest in home decorating, and had recently developed a passion for pottery. Her creativity taught us to ‘think outside the box.’ She welcomed the challenge of learning new things and took on every task with vigor. She had a kind and giving nature, and a highlight for her was Christmas gift giving in creatively wrapped packages. Terry’s sense of humor was enjoyed by all; she could always make us laugh and look on the bright side. She was a very warm and caring person who had many cherished friends. And for Terry, there was nothing like family. We all have so many happy memories of her. This daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, friend, mother, and grandmother will forever be missed ... and never forgotten. “If I could sit across the porch from God, I'd thank him for lending me you."
