Eulogy as given by Jim Doolittle
Dave Clark was born in Turtleford February 3, 1932 and raised near Hartwell half way between Livelong and Turtleford. I remember Hartwell as I have heard Dave mention it on several occasions. It seemed to be of some importance to him so deserves mention here.
When I was asked to do this my first thought was I'd rather help carry him. But after some thought I came to realize this is both an honour and a privilege and I thank you for this opportunity.
As I sat and thought of what to say I came to realize I really knew very little about Dave but I probably knew as much as anyone outside his immediate family circle for Dave was a private man. Dave was not given to great outpouring of praise or affection and if you got either you knew them to be honest and genuine, if he liked you, you knew it. If he didn't like you, you knew it. When you think of this its not a bad thing.
Dave had other interests outside of family and farm. Some were his long standing hobby of coin collecting, another his passion for hunting and an area that he enjoyed considerable success fishing, another sport he liked to pursue along with golf and bowling. In his younger years Dave had a love of softball and a number of us here today helped him form up the Dave Clark Five ball team and many summer weekends were spent at various sports days with Dave doing most of the pitching.
I guess all in all to me Dave was honest, fair, direct, a samaritan not a bad group of words to have said honestly about you. Dave we will miss you but not forget.
