B I O G R A P H Y Lacusta: Walter Lacusta passed away in The Lloydminster Hospital with family by his side, on Sunday January 30, 2005 at the age of 73 years. He was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on August 18, 1931 and grew up on the family farm south of Lloydminster in the Sunnydale District. Walter married Elaine Jardine May 9, 1959 and then moved to Lloydminster where he worked at Nelson Lumber and farmed. Walter kept himself very busy pursuing his many interests and creative hobbies and talents. He enjoyed collecting butterflies and arrowheads and was very involved with music and played his bass fiddle with many local bands. He also studied photography and art and this helped to develop his love and deep appreciation for nature and his surroundings. Walter will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 45 years Elaine, son Gregg (Trina) of Lloydminster and their children Kiana, Ethan, Alexis and Chelsea, daughter Alison (Rick) of Edmonton and their son Ryan, his mother Zenovia Lakusta, two sisters Iris (Harold) Almond and Lovette Dove all of Lloydminster; two brothers-in-law: Alven (Pat) Jardine of Lloydminster and Jack (Anita) Jardine of Spruce Grove, AB, his nieces and nephews as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Walter was predeceased by his father John in January 1997 and his brother Peter in February 1978. The funeral service for Walter was conducted from the Grace United Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Norm Laird officiating. Special music was provided by soloist Jeanine Hatchard who sang “His Eye is on the Sparrow” , “On Eagle’s Wings” and Amazing Grace accompanied on the organ by Irene Knowlson. Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Walter’s life. Active pallbearers were: Walter Tarapacki, Terry Gibbons, Bob Ambler, Harold Almond, Jack Jardine and Alven Jardine. Interment followed in The Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. Of Lloydminster administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks We wish to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our relatives, friends and neighbors who helped us through this difficult time with their sympathy, comfort and loving support. Thank you to those who brought food, flowers, donations and sent cards, your thoughtfulness will always be remembered. Thank you to Reverend Norm Laird for his special words and thoughts of Walter. Thanks also to the soloist, organist, pallbearers and Colleen Hozack for the lovely lunch. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, occupational and physical therapists and staff of the University Hospital in Edmonton, Cross Cancer Clinic and Lloydminster Hospital, as well as McCaw Funeral Service for the funeral arrangements. All your kindness and love in our loss is deeply appreciated.
