Obituary of Daniel Williams
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Daniel Glen Williams passed away on December 22, 2009 at the Lloydminster Hospital at the age of 47 years, after a three-year battle with ALS. He will be greatly missed by his wife Janice Williams, his daughter Krista (Derrick) Murias, his son Sheldon (Jenna) Williams, and grandson Cohen Murias of Lloydminster; his mother Loretta Williams and sister Cheryl (Jeff) Jackson of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; his sister Noreen (Gerry) Colebrook of Calgary, as well as numerous other relatives.
Dan was born on July 26, 1962, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to Loretta and Bob Williams. He met his wife, Jan, while working in Central Butte, Saskatchewan, where they married on February 26, 1983. Dan and Jan had two children: Krista, born on February 19, 1981, and Sheldon, born on April 7, 1984.
Dan began a 25-year career with agriculture dealerships at Co-op Implements while in Central Butte, transferring to Medicine Hat, Alberta, in 1982, and later to Lloydminster in 1986. With the closing of Co-op Implements, Dan was hired at Agland by Ken and Chuck Kay in 1990, where he continued to work until his disease forced an early retirement in 2007.
Dan's love for both music and computers led him to start up two businesses in the early nineties, beginning with Night Moves DJ Service, and later with Willcraft Technologies Ltd, which continues to be owned and operated by Sheldon and Jan.
He had many passions in life, including muscle cars, jet boats, vacationing, and the outdoors. The latter led to many summers spent camping with his family (and with the many family pets that were always a part of Dan's life). Within the last few years, Dan and Jan were able to fulfil their dream of building a cabin at the lake, where they had hoped to retire, and where Dan's legacy will live on for his family.
At Dan's request, a private family gathering will be held in lieu of a funeral service. Donations in memory of Dan can be made to the ALS Society of Alberta.
