PETERSON ~ Elizabeth "Mary" Peterson passed away in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Lloydminster, Alberta on May 20, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Mary was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan to Samuel and Doris Noyes. She was the fourth child of seven. They were raised on a farm, in the Fartown District where they went to school and church. Mary went to Saskatoon Normal School, after her Grade 11. She later taught at Teboe Corner and Dulwich Schools. After a few years Mary moved to Lloydminster and worked at HB Halls Store as a clerk. On November 16, 1949 Mary married the love of her life, Arnold Peterson. Together they farmed in the North Gully District (close to Greenstreet). There they raised three daughters Sandra, Lynda and Deb. After retiring from farming Arnold and Mary moved to Lloydminster in November 1995. They moved into the Horizon Village, where they enjoyed the friendship of many other couples. Unfortunately Arnold had to move into the Dr. Cooke Extended Care in 2004 where he passed away in May 2007. After Arnold's move to the Dr. Cooke, Mary moved to the Dr. Hemstock Adult Living in 2004, then Points West in 2010 and finally February 2012 to Dr. Cooke Extended Care. Mary will be sadly missed by her children: Sandra (Dennis) Herle, Lynda (Darrel) Thompson, Deb (Harry) Matwishyn; eight grandchildren: Mark (Donica) Herle, Peter (Lisa) Herle, Michael (Lyndee) Herle, Sarah Herle, Mathew (Twyla) Thompson, Joanne (Todd) Moore, Jared (Kim Willis) Matwishyn, Curtis (Chrissy Harris) Matwishyn; five great grandchildren: Taylor, Braydon and Shea Thompson, Connor Moore and Abigail Herle and step great grand daughter Dayton Ferrari; one sister Marie (Art) Trundle, and one brother Allan (Eileen) Noyes. Mary was predeceased by her husband Arnold Peterson, brothers: Sydney, Edwin, William, Joseph and their spouses; sister-in-law: Alice Fisher, brothers-in-law: Edgar Peterson, Robert Peterson and their spouses. The funeral service was conducted from St. John's Anglican Church, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse officiating. The reading were given by Sandra Herle and grandson Peter Herle. The eulogy was given by grandchildren Curtis Matwishyn and Joanne Moore. The hymns sung were "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus", "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" accompanied on the organ by Pat Skinner. The Honorary pallbearers were All Her Family and Friends. The active pallbearers were All The Grandchildren: Mark Herle, Peter Herle, Michael Herle, Sarah Herle, Mathew Thompson, Joanne Moore, Jared Matwishyn, Curtis Matwishyn. The interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS The family of Mary Peterson would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff members from the Dr. Hemstock Adult Living, Points West and the Dr. Cooke Extended Care for making her stays there so enjoyable and comfortable. Thank you to Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse for the comforting service, Pat Skinner for playing the organ and the choir for their musical assistance. Thank you Joanne and Curtis for doing such a great job with the eulogy, to Peter for doing one of the readings along with Sandra and to the Grandchildren for being Pallbearers. Grandma would have been so proud of everyone of you that day. Thank you to the Ladies for preparing and serving the lovely lunch after the service. Thank you to everyone who attended the funeral, sent food, messages, flowers, cards and made donations in memory of Mom, your thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
