I was fortunate to get to know Ethel as we travelled to presbytery meetings together. She never failed to startle and delight me with her quick sense of humour. She will be missed by many, not just for her skills and dedication but also for the special presence she brought to each gathering. I feel blessed to have known her, Lois

News of Ethel Smith's passing shocked many of her friends. She was a real mainstay of Grace Unitd Church choir, her vocal contributions in both church and Sweet Adelines were significant. Ethel was a trusted friend. Her wry sense of humour was her trademark. She had a forthright personality. Ethel will be sorely missed by a large circle of friends. My wife Vera who passed away Dec.3lst, 2OlO was one of those longtime friends.

Our sincere sympathy to you Tracy and to your family. We are sorry that your Mom, our dear friend and Auntie Ethel has passed. After nearly 47 years of friendship, visits and countless cups of tea, we will miss her.So many precious memories. No more pain and health concerns for you, Ethel, and I am sure you have already found the yarn and crochet hooks that were ready for you in Heaven. The threat of snow tomorrow will keep us from travelling to Lloyd but you are in our thoughts and prayers. You are your folks pride and joy, Tracy K . Cherish your memories. Love, Carol and Henry

I have known Ethel for a short period of time, however quite enjoyed her wit and love of music. She and I went to a few movies together, she went to the last Harry Potter movie with me, knowing absolutely nothing about the series. She was a fighter, struggling through and beyond many health issues however I beleive she knew it wouldn't last. She seemed to enjoy life much of the time, with a bit of grumbling, but it was her way. I liked her. Pat

Tracey, we were very saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. We fondly remember the ball trips and 'Lethal Ethel'. We reminisced about the week of midget nationals when your mom and dad stocked our empty pantry! Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Ethel was a huge and valued part of St. Paul Prebytery for many years. She brought a great sense of humour to our meetings in her quiet way. I often had coffee or lunch with her on her way through Vegreville. She once said she had to slow down but one of the jobs she did not want to give up was the Treasurer job in the presbytery. She will be missed by everyone in the presbytery. Her devotion to the United Church was solid.

So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing, Tracey. Your mom and dad were some of the first people I met when I started work at the radio station in Lloyd just before you were born. They made me feel welcome and we enjoyed many good times. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our sincere condolences in the loss of your mother. Thinking of Ethyl reminds me of the good times we had with her (and your Dad) when travelling with the ball team. If she had to drive, she kept very close to our bumper for fear she would lose us ...but she always did very well and got to the tournaments. How she loved score keeping! I'm sure you also have very fond memories and will cherish them forever. Our sincerest sympathy,

Tracy So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a regular visitor to the lab so we had some good visits. She never complained about her health, just seemed to take it all in stride. You could always tell she was very proud of you Tracy. Take Care. Vickie Torry

Oh Tracy, I was just looking in the obituaries for the Fitzsimonds notice and saw your mothers name. I am so terribly sorry for you. I wished we could have been home to make it to her funeral. I have so many good memories of your mother, especially during all our Sweet Adeline time. She had a lovely base voice and was fum to be with. I'm sure you will have millions of wonderful memories to keep you, in the years to come. I lost my mother in 1999 and I'm sure a day hasn't gone by that I don't reach for the phone or think I'll call her as she'll know the answer to "whatever." Trusting all is well with you and hope you are still singing in Sweet Adelines. Your Mum was so proud of you and your lovely barritone voice. We will all miss her a lot.

I knew Ethel only briefly, having worked together with her on St. Paul Presbytery this past year. However, I grew very quickly to appreciate her dedication and sense of humour. May we be inspired by her example.
