MOAN ~ John Frederick Moan passed away in Lloydminster Hospital July 1, 2012 at the age of 74 years. He was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan May 15, 1938 to Annie (Buddy) and Pat Moan. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1945 where he started school. They returned to Saskatchewan in 1946, where his father invested in a garage and hardware business. He took his remaining school in Shellbrook, working after school and then full time afterwards. In 1958 he married Joan Brunton, to this union came four children; Dale, Debra, Craig and Charlene. John decided on a career change and trained with Saskatoon City Police Force in 1965. They moved to Lloydminster in 1968, where John continued working at various occupations. John enjoyed golfing and fishing, traveled to the mountains, and to different lakes in our area. He enjoyed writing poems, he was very proud of the poems he wrote and delivered for family weddings and anniversaries. John was predeceased by his mother Buddy in May 1984, his father Pat in November 1995, his sister Arlene Thompson in July 2011, his father in law in 1994, and mother in law in 1997. John is survived by his wife, Joan of 53 years, four children: Dale (Sandra) Moan of St. Albert, Deb (Eric) Whitfield of Lloydminster, Craig (Nelia) Moan of Edmonton, and Charlene (Dean) Martin of Lloydminster, as well as eight Grandchildren: Devon & Jenna Moan, Steven & Tommy Pohynayko, Stephanie (Dale) Midgely, Ryan Whitfield, and Mitchell & Brooklyn Moan, his sister, Sharon (Allan) Meyer, and brother and sister in laws: Cliff Thompson, Lois (Ed) Waterfield, and Louise (Roger) Marsh and numerous other relatives. The funeral service was conducted from the St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Jan Sobkowicz officiating. The eulogy was read at the luncheon by Sharon Meyer. Marlene Risling sang a solo accompanied by Donna Weston on the organ. The urnbearer was Dale Moan. The interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. The family would like to thank the staff of Points West and Dr. Cooke Extended Care, and the Doctors and Nurses at Lloydminster Hospital for the compassionate care during John's final days. Thank you to the ladies of the church for the lovely lunch, and to the staff at McCaw Funeral Service for all their help.
