I met Dr Weir just once a few years ago on third floor at the Lloyd hospital.Sitting at the nurses station at around 8h30 PM,I noticed this guy with a plastic bag handing candy to other patients/visitors.I asked the night staff if he was a psych patient and they promptly filled me in.He must have felt sorry for me,came over, handed me a chocolat bar and started chatting to me as if he had known me for years. For an hour plus.I never saw him again, but he made a great impression on me and now I know why. Most of us run across someone like him once in a lifetime and they make us feel good but also a bit insignificant at the same time.Merv Loewen called him Mr Lloydminster and that is probably not too far off the mark.

I remember my dad laughing about an incident with Albert George (our neighbor) who had taken a heifer into Glen because she was having trouble calving. Albert was in a hurry and left the heifer at the Clinic for Glen to take care of. The heifer calved on her own, but Glen shaved her side and drew stitches on her and when Albert came to get her and the calf, Glen told him to take the stitches out in a couple of weeks and happily handed Albert a bill for the c-section. Albert did not discover the "joke" until he went to take the stitches out. Albert, having a good sense of humor also - sent Glen a cheque for the amount of the bill but signed the bill, "don't have any money"!
