ROGERS ~ Clarice Edna Rogers (nee Nelson) passed away Wednesday, September 26 at Lloydminster Hospital with family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Lars & Martha Nelson, husband Donald, bothers Leatham Cameron and Irving Nelson, sisters Margaret, Ruth, and Mattie, brothers in law Herman Brockhoff, Ronald Gingras, Gordon Hartwick, and grandson Acel Davis. Surviving are her sister Sally (Elzear) Hartwick, sisters in law Shirley Nelson and Agnes Gingras; daughters Beverly Davis and Jessie (Gary) Carlson; sons David and Lars (Darlene) Rogers. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Laurie, Cathy, Chandra, Rudy, Martha, Joe, Robbie, Kayla, and Kyle, and eight great grandchildren: Magena, Cloe, Bryune, Max, Levi, Lewis, Cole, and Tristan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Clarice was born in Lashburn and attended Wells School in the Wycallor District. She married Donald Rogers in 1937 and they farmed for many years in the Beechwood District. Clarice was an excellent wife and mother and a wonderful cook. She wad a natural ability with cattle and other domestic livestock. She was a member of the Beechwood Homemakers Club, and a 4H Garden Club leader for which she received a lifetime achievement award. She was a lifetime supporter of the CCF/NDP and a lifetime member of the UCW and a Saskatchewan Roughrider fan. Clarice & Don spent many summers camping and fishing at Jackfish Lake and going to Jasper National Park. They spent 16 winters at the Rock Shadows RV Resort near Phoenix, Arizona with Herman & Ruth Brockhoff. Other travel included eastern Canada, the north-east USA, Churchill, Manitoba, the Yukon, Alaska, Hawaii, and several cruises. While residing in Neilburg for several years, Clarice participated in many activities in the community, at the Senior Centre, and the United Church A memorial Service was held at the Neilburg Community Hall on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Peter Yeung officiating. A private interment was held in the Beechwood Cemetery. Donations in memory of Clarice may be made to a charity of the donors choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Donations in memory of Clarice may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
