Obituary of Birgit Helboe

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother on November 29, 2012 with her family at her side, at the age of 89. Mom is forever loved and remembered by her children; Silvia (Wally), Ted (Deborah), Jill (Pete), Kenny, Grant (Peggy) and Lynn (Eric); 22 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Egon, daughter Dorte (Phil), grand daughter Debbie, daughter-in-law Joanne and her parents and two brothers in Denmark. Born in Aarhus, Denmark and immigrated to Canada in 1949 with her husband Egon and the two oldest children, the family grew as she embraced the farm and ranch way of life near Lloydminster, Alberta. She was a terrific homemaker - cook, baker, gardener and just being Mom. Many neighbors and friends appeared, coincidentally, at coffee times and meal times, to visit! After retirement from the farm, Mom moved into her new home in Lloydminster. She deeply missed her husband until her passing. Mom was a very loyal and dedicated Oilers fan... "No hockey - game over"!! To honor Mom's wishes, there will be no formal services and cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held in the summer. In lieu of any flowers, donations may be made, in her name, to the Cross Cancer Institute.
