THOREL ~ Doreen Simpson "Grannie" Thorel passed away in the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Doreen leaves to mourn: her daughter, Theresa and Dwight Andrews; daughter-in-law, Dianne Thorel; eight grandchildren: Laverne and Tracey Andrews and their children, Brett and Cody, Darcy and Chrissy Andrews and their child, Brynn, Quentin and Stacey Andrews and their children, Brooke and Tylan, Trina and Tim Rekimowich and their children, Nash and Sanna, Sherry Thorel, JoAnn and Kris Kykkanen and their children, Jari and Ava, Krysta and Tyler Thornton and Carla Thorel; two sisters, Helen Henderson and Toots Morgan, as well as numerous other relatives. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Cyril (Scotty); son, George; mother, Margory; father, Charles; brothers-in-law, Donald and Bill; and close companion, Jim. The Memorial Service for Doreen Thorel was conducted from St. John's Anglican Church, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. with Reverend Canon Michael Stonhouse officiating. The eulogy was given by Gail Munro. The hymns "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Shall We Gather at the River" were accompanied by organist Pat Skinner. Special CD music "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" was played during the service. The honorary pallbearers were all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. Donations in Doreen's memory may be made to the Lloydminster Association for Community Living. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks We would like to thank everyone for their words of condolence both in person and on the McCaw website, phone calls, visits, food, flowers, cards, keepsakes in memory of Mom and donations made to the Lloydminster Association for Community Living.
