JOHNS ~ Donald "Duck" Edward Johns passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the age of 66 years. Don is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia; daughter, Carrie Bayes and her children: Erica and Carson of Prince George, British Columbia; Sylvia's daughter, Shauna and Clayton Hopkins and their children: Kade, Kiera and Kory of Red Deer, Alberta; Sylvia's son, Jason Forsberg and his children: Brandyn, Ethan and Hayley of Lloydminster, sister, Darlene and Glen Stewart of Regina, Saskatchewan; nephews, Greg and Joel Stewart, as well as several cousins and numerous friends. Don was predeceased by his parents, Emilia (nee Pobuda) and Henry Johns. The Funeral Service for Don was conducted from the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lyle Berg officiating. Darlene Stewart gave the eulogy. Special music "Butterfly Kisses" and "One More Day" were played during the service. The honorary pallbearers were Kade, Kiera and Kory Hopkins and Brandyn, Ethan and Hayley Forsberg. The urn bearers were Erica and Carson Bayes. The interment of ashes will be held at a later date in Prince George, British Columbia. Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, SPCA, or to a charity of the donors choice. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements. Card of Thanks "Thank you" just doesn't say what we feel for the loving support and comforting words so many have and are showing us at this time. We would especially like to thank all the hospital staff from the Lloydminster Hospital and the U of A, the ambulance attendants and home care nurses. Thank you to Lyle Berg for his comforting words at the Legion Service and all the comrades for their show of support. Thank you to all who brought or sent food, flowers and refreshments to the house, for cards received, the phone calls and everyone who came forth to show their support and love. Thank you for the donations received for the SPCA, Legion, Health Region and Kidney Foundation. Don certainly left an impression on everyone he met, whether it be for a reason, season or a lifetime and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
