Jim Tradewell and family Eulogy for Beverly Yvonne Tradewell: Good Afternoon, My name is Dean Walde and l am a brother-in-law to Bev. Thank you so much for being here today as we celebrate and remember the life of Beverly Yvonne Tradewell. Your presence is a special tribute to our family. Beverly was born in Lloydminster Hospital in 1951 to a proud Leslie and Margaret Graham. She spent her childhood years growing up on the family farm near Marsden, Saskatchewan. In the years following, the Graham's would welcome another sister named Bonnie, a brother named John, and another sister named Janis. Beverly excelled in sports at school. She was known to excel in Track and Field and in Softball. She was also very musical, where she achieved a high level in the Musical Conservatory for Piano. Bonnie remembers that after Bev's music lesson in Lloydminster, Bev would go to the music store and always spend her allowance on the latest pop 45 record. Bev was a die-hard beetles fan. Bev had a beetles sweatshirt with the words; Yea! Yea! Yea! and she wore that shirt constantly. Beverly, strong willed and independent, did not much like participating in chores on the farm. Bonnie Reflects: When mom, Bev and I got down to doing the dishes, Bev always would have to go to the bathroom where she'd stay until the dishes were all done. One day, while doing the dishes, Bev mentioned to mom that she wanted to get her hair cut really short like the model Twiggy. Mom told her absolutely not, as she had beautiful long red hair. Bev went off to the bathroom after being told no. A time later, Mom suddenly stopped cleaning the dishes and fearfully asked Bonnie (you don't suppose she'd cut her own hair do you?) Bonnie replied, oh yea sure she would! They left the dishes and quickly bolted to the bathroom where they saw Bev with what was left of her beautiful long red hair in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other. Off to Lloyd they went the next day to get her hair fixed. Bev got her Twiggy hairstyle. John Reflects, "l had the most glorious tree house that one day Bev decided to evict him from. She made him move all his stuff out. Then after a time, Bev grew bored of her new acquisition and made John move all her stuff from the Tree house to the Hayloft." He says it took him years to complete this task. The school years went on, and at a hockey game, Bev would meet her soul mate. Jim was playing in goal this fateful night in Neilburg. He remembers looking up in the stands and seeing the most gorgeous red headed woman wearing a brightly colored, long toque. In the days following he was able to find out who she was and ask her on her first date. 5 years of dating ensued before they were married in Lloydminster in 1973. They moved to Lloydminster where Bev went to Reeves Business College. They then moved to Birch Hills, Saskatchewan in 1974. There Jim spent the next two years working for the COOP. In 1975, Jim and Bev welcomed Jason, their first born child. From Birch Hills, they moved to Jim's Hometown of Lashburn. In 1977, they welcomed Jamie into their family, their second born son. In 1978, they moved to Lloydminster where they made their permanent home and where they raised their children. The years Bev lived in Lloydminster had challenges but there was much joy, love, and understanding. Janis remembers,"I was always very nervous to take her to auctions because she was always putting up her darn hand. She just wanted everything!" Another time while camping at Loon Lake, Darlene Bowes, Bev and I made a trip to Meadow Lake to shop. Then we decided to have a girls night out in the Dorintosh Bar. At the front of the bar was a Karaoke machine, to which the three of them belted out songs like "Wild thing." This is one of Janis's most favorite memories. Jim Remembers, "One day Bev came home with some Taber Corn. .When she counted the cobs, there were only 11. Upset, she drove back to the Corn Salesperson and took a number of pictures of him and told him that she was going to put his picture in the newspaper!" Jim humorously reflects that she took a large number of photos of this man and that she never bought Taber Corn ever again. Jason and Jamie reflect on their mother as a loving and a caring person. She would always make sure they had a lunch to take to school. She loved watching them play Hockey and she would always attend their band recitals. Jason played the Trombone and Jamie played the drums. Bev loved the fishing trips with her family. She was quite the angler and loved a good fish fry. Some of the most joyous family memories with Bev came from these trips to the lake. Bev took enormous pride and loved every moment she could spend with her two wonderful grandchildren, Alyx and Browan. The final years of Bev's life brought many health challenges. It was with the support of her husband and her family, and with the expertise of many health care professionals, that enabled Bev to move through this difficult time the very best she could. We give thanks to Janis for taking a leave of absence from her nursing to help Bev through her last 20 days in Hospital. We give thanks to the Incredible Nursing staff at the Lloydminster Hospital, to the home care staff, and to the Palliative Care Coordinator Brenda. Janis , Bonnie and John want to say "thank-you" and express their deepest love and gratitude to Jim for the endless love and support he gave their sister through the years. It was because of his support that Bev was able to remain in their home. We love you Jim. It was with a most peaceful ending, and with her loved ones at her bedside, that Bev embarked on her Journey into heaven on July 18th, 2013 after a courageous battle with Bladder Cancer. She will forever be in our hearts and prayers. Thank you.
