Obituary of Vera Lake

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Vera Mabel Lake, age 95, at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre on Monday, March 10, 2014. Vera is survived by her son Jim (Mabel) Lake of Swift Current; grandchildren Craig (Leanne) Lake, Janine (Dean) Lypkie, Jason (Tammy) Lake, Raelynn (Graham Flatt) Lake, daughter-in-law, Linda (Peter) Ehman; brother-in-law Ron Lake; sister-in-law Doris Bersea as well as many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Vera was predeceased by her husband Arthur, son Don, her parents Dave and Margaret Orriss, her sister Margaret Anderson, brothers Clifford and Lloyd Orriss, sisters-in-law Vi Orriss, Marion Orriss, Ethel Lake and brothers-in-law Ed Anderson and Keith Bersea.
Vera was born in Yorkton, Sask. On Jan.10, 1919. Her family lived in several communities in Alberta and Sask. Before they finally settled in Lone Rock, Sask. There she met and married Art Lake on Sept. 21, 1939. Vera spent many happy years there raising her family and participating in the community. She enjoyed curling, bowling, golfing , knitting and especially the time she and Art spent at their cabin at Little Fishing Lake.
Vera will be remembered by family and friends as a quiet, caring lady and will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
The memorial service will be held at the McCaw Funeral Chapel in Lloydminster, Alberta on Friday, March 21,2014 at 2:00 PM.
