Homer Hines passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, October 4 at the age of 84 years. Homer was born in Elk Point, Alberta and grew up in Streamstown, Alberta. He worked ranching with his Dad. He played hockey, curled and enjoyed spending time with many friends and family. Homer married Dollie on December 8, 1952. By 1961, they had six children: Elaine, Susan, Deborah, Carolyn, Allan and Evan. The family moved to the farm north of Marwayne in 1958. In 1969, they moved to Prince George where Homer worked for the next 25 years with the Department of National Defense. He retired in 2001 in Abbotsford, BC, returning to Marwayne for five years and then to Edmonton in 2006. Homer is survived by his loving wife Dollie; five children: Susan, Deborah, Carolyn, Allan and Evan Hines; 9 grandchildren: Dal, Chuck, Mike, Mark, Katelyn, Brielle, Amber, Tanner and Blake; 2 step grandchildren: Marshall and Mackenzie; and 1 great-grandchild, Olivia. Homer was predeceased by his daughter Elaine in 2011. Donations in memory of Homer Hines may be made to The Canadian Lung Association or to Marwayne Cemetery Fund.
