Obituary of Elaine Giles
Please share a memory of Elaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The family of Elaine Bernadette Giles sadly announces her passing on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Pine Island Lodge.
Elaine was born in Lashburn, SK on May 17, 1947, the 8th child of Jack and Betty Donovan. She attended school in Waseca and Maidstone. She took her hairdressing at Marvel in Saskatoon then moved to Lloyd where she worked at Una's Salon. She met George Giles and they married on April 15, 1972 in Whitecourt. They moved to High Level and then Fairview where she opened her own hair dressing salon. They had two sons, Thomas and John. Her boys were her world and she was always so proud of them.
Elaine fought a brave battle with MS for over 30 years. She remained hopeful, optimistic and strong. She always had a smile and thank you for every small gesture. Elaine spent her last 14 years in Maidstone Hospital/Lodge.
Elaine was an inspiration to everyone who knew her or took care of her. She taught us all positive thinking, generosity and kindness. She brightened everyone's day with laughter and was always grateful for the compassionate care given to her. You could tell by the photos in Elaine's room that she had a great love of family and friends. She kept us all up to date on family activities and was our "Rock". No words can express how much we will all miss her and she will always be in our hearts.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Thomas (Kim), a very special son, Caleb who live in Aberdeen, Scotland and John (April), their two girls Jaden and Sierra who reside in Sylvan Lake, AB. They are excitedly awaiting the arrival of Elaine's first great grandchild, siblings: Mary (Bruce) McFadyen, Olive (George) Yaworenko, Catherine (Cliff) Metherell, John (Gloria) Donovan, Paul (Carolin) Donovan, Anne Reid, Rita Kohlman (John), Susan (Nigel) McGee, Peter (Penny) Donovan, Morris (Renee) Donovan, Margaret (Mel) Zerr, Theresa (Dean) Smart, Ellen Oleksiuk, Louise (Adrian) Hume, Isabel (Glen) Kramer, uncle Cecil Smith and families.
Elaine is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Betty Donovan, sister, Bernadette, nephew and nieces Gerry McFadyen, Darby, Scott and Anne Yaworenko, brothers-in-law Nick Kohlman, Mike Oleksiuk, nephews-in-law Les Anderson and Les Stratton.
