Roger Lundquist passed away at the Pine Island Lodge, Maidstone, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the age of 94 years.
Roger was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathleen Lundquist (nee Hanway) in 1986, his parents and numerous family members.
He is survived by his 6 children, 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren: son, Robert (Helene); grandson, Jean (Bobbie Lynn); great granddaughters: Brett, Drew, Casey and Sydney; grandson, Aron (Tammy); great granddaughters, Kyla and Lexi; granddaughter, Amanda (Jeffery) McKenzie; great grandchildren: Max, Reese and Tessa; grandson, Tyson (Dao Diep); great grandson, Calvin; grandson, Kaylan (Jocelan); grandson, Robert Jr.; daughter, Ronna (Perry) McIvor; granddaughter, Tanya (Brennan) Craig; great grandchildren: Grace, Jude and Simon; granddaughter, Rene (Dale) Miettinen; great granddaughters: Annaka and Marissa; granddaughter, Michelle (Chris Frohlick); granddaughter, Jolene (Greg) Campbell; great granddaughters: Stella and Norah; daughter, Karen Lundquist (Colin Kinnell); granddaughter, Ashley; son, David (Carol); granddaughters: Abby and Nicole; grandson, Lindsay; daughter, Beverly (Tom) Hougan; granddaughter, Sarah (Derek) Pendree; great grandchildren: Abbott and Beckett; grandson, Cole (Kaly); granddaughter, Shanna (Jamie) Blair; daughter, Sherry (Scott) Bodnar; grandsons: Zackary and Chantz. Roger is also survived by his four sisters: Signe Lundquist, Bettie MacDonald, Frances Petterson and Elsie (Bud) Gordon.
Roger was born in Lashburn to Agnes and Anton Lundquist the 5th of 12 children. He was raised and in the Dry Gully District north of Maidstone. He served in WWII from April 1942 to May 1945. He came home and married Kathleen Hanway from Waseca in 1946 and together they raised their 6 children on the farm. They moved to Maidstone in 1981. Following Kathy's death in 1986, he remained in Maidstone for 20 years then moved to Lloydminster residing in Hearthstone Place and The Hemstock Residence from 2006 to 2014. Roger's Final 10 months were spent in the Maidstone Pine Island Lodge.
Roger was very involved in the community: a founding Leader of the North of the Gully 4-H club, serving for 25 years. He was on the boards of Milleton Hall, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and Maidstone United Church. Roger was a founding member of The Lashburn Seed Cleaning Plant as well as The Waseca Credit Union. He served the Maidstone Legion in many capacities most of his Life. Roger was named Maidstone Citizen of the Year in 1981.
Roger especially loved old time music. He played the saxophone with different bands over the years and loved to listen and play music for whoever would enjoy it with him.
Roger lived a long full life and will be missed by family and friends.
