BIOGRAPHY
HICKMAN ~ George Emerson Hickman passed away peacefully in the Pine Island Lodge, Maidstone, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the age of 88 years.
George will be sadly missed by his loving wife Charmaine; his children: Deborah and Brian Beaton, Cheryl and Earl Oborowsky, Lorne and Kathy Hickman, Edward and Laurie Hickman, Barbara and Larry Farrell, Gerald Hickman; grandchildren: Trevor and Cheryl Beaton, Tyson Beaton and Heather MacKenzie, Ayleigh and Grant Stoughton, Chad and Tara Oborowsky, Lauren and Shawn Nyholt, Lynnette Oborowsky and Kevin Tatton, Christopher and Kirstin Hickman, Adam and Michelle Hickman, Lisa and Scott Simons, Charmaine Hickman, Steven Hickman, Danielle Farrell, Carmen Farrell, Michelle Farrell, Chelsea Hickman and Kevin Wilson, Leaha Hickman and Tate Severson; great grandchildren: Grace and Drew, Julia and Matthew, Myah, Cole and Ridley, Ryan and Peyton, Addyson and Quinn, Kyle, Liam, Alizay and Ruby, Abigail and Brady as well as numerous other relatives.
The funeral service was conducted from the Lashburn Community Hall, Lashburn, Saskatchewan on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Peter Yeung officiating.
The eulogy was read by the grandchildren.
The solo "These Hands" was sung by Reverend Peter Yeung.
The hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace" accompanied on the organ by Lorna Chappell.
The honorary pallbearers were the granddaughters: Ayleigh Stoughton, Lauren Nyholt, Lynnette Oborowsky, Lisa Simons, Charmaine Hickman, Danielle Farrell, Carmen Farrell, Michelle Farrell, Chelsea Hickman and Leaha Hickman.
The active pallbearers were the grandsons: Trevor Beaton, Tyson Beaton, Chad Oborowsky, Christopher Hickman, Adam Hickman and Steven Hickman.
The interment was held in the Tangleflags Cemetery.
McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the funeral arrangements.
CARD OF THANKS
The family of George Hickman wishes to thank the staff of Pine Island Lodge in Maidstone for the great care given to dad while he resided there, and for the compassion shown to his family in his last days. It was greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Reverend Peter Yeung for the very personal and thoughtful funeral service and for his care of dad near the end, and to Lorna Chappell for playing the organ. A special thank you to all the angels who helped to prepare and serve the lunch following the service. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Thank you to all the neighbours, friends and relatives for their kind support, phone calls, food, flowers, cards and donations at this difficult time. We feel blessed.
And finally, we wish to thank Glenn and Dave of McCaw Funeral Service for their compassion and guidance.
