Obituary of Christoph Linke

Christoph (Chris) Linke, 86, of Kitscoty, Alberta, formerly of Thunder Bay, Ontario passed away on Feb 14, 2016, peacefully in his sleep after a short battle with prostate cancer. Chris was born in Wilhelminenthal, Germany on Dec 22, 1929. He immigrated to Canada in 1951. In the late 1950’s, he studied at and graduated from Forest Ranger School in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He worked for Great Lakes Paper Co. in Thunder Bay in a variety of positions, ranging from cut foreman to Forestry Technician. He retired in Dec 1991, then continued as a consultant and aerial photo analyst. Chris and Emma, his partner of nearly 51 years, moved to Alberta in November 2012 to be closer to their children. He immensely enjoyed gardening. His green thumb was always appreciated with all the flowers and plants that adorned his and other’s properties. Another of his developing hobbies was model railroading, especially steam locomotives. He was also actively involved in the church he attended. Chris is survived by his wife Emma, daughter Roberta (Colin) Mesheau, sons John (Nancy) Linke and Mark Linke; grandchildren: Justin (Lindsay) Linke, Jamie Lynn (Ryan) Grau, Cody and Nikita Mesheau; great-grandchildren Charlotte Grau and Robyn Linke; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Chris is preceded in death by his sisters Andrea and Vera and his brother Hubertus. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held at a later date.
