Sending my deep condolences to Mr. Torry's family. I still remember it being my first year in Canada and me and my sister, Baria, had the pleasure of being in his class, Grade 6 back in the years 2012-2013. He was technically my first teacher and to be honest the most understanding, empathetic, kind and genuinely a wonderful person. Despite me being new to the country, language, people, system, I can still say that he made the classes fun, enjoyable, comfortable for everyone to be in.
Today, I was just doing a random search on my elementary school teachers and then coming across this news was very shocking. Life is indeed too short and we should make the most out of our time with the people we love and care for because we don't know when it will be someone's last day we meet them. I genuinely miss him and that class.
I pray that God elevate his status, make his grave a garden from the Gardens of Paradise, Amen.

Dear Mr. Torry's family,
I was one of Mr. Torry's students last year. He taught me science. He was a VERY good teacher.My favorite memory of Mr.Torry is when he would "steal" candy from Mrs. Stewart.
I always looked forward to seeing his smiles.

I had the pleasure of teaching with Jeff for over 5 years. I will fondly remember him as a quiet man who loved working with children. He could always we found out on the playground or running intermurals in the gym. He was also the safety patrol king. I will always remember our Sunday chats. I was heart-broken to hear of Jeff's passing. Sincere condolences to your family. I had the privilege to meet Jeff when I taught at Winston Churchill. What a genuine guy he was! He always gave that smile, wave when he saw you! Jeff gave his whole self to his teaching. His students were his top priority . You rarely saw him in the staff room .He was always doing something with kids: playing soccer, football, catch on the playground at recess; supervising activities in the gym. He was admired by his staff and his students. So many are grieving over your family's loss !

We would like to start by offering our deepest sympathies to Jeff's entire family. We cannot pretend to imagine the pain you are going through.
I had the distinct honour and privilege interviewing, hiring and welcoming Jeff to his beloved profession. Later, Roxanne and I were very grateful to be considered his friends.
I remember Jeff telling me some years after his interview, "I didn't think I had a chance. I must have misread you. You seemed like you weren't completely into the interview." He was right. I wasn't. I knew from the moment he answered the first question we were wasting time finishing or interviewing others. We knew right then and there that Jeff was one of the very few who truly had a calling to work with children.
From his first to his last lesson, I know full well we were right.
We love you very much Jeff. You taught us more than we ever taught you.

Please know that Jeff's school family shares in your pain and sends their deepest sympathies. He was just an amazing guy. He was the first to volunteer, and the last to leave, no matter the occasion. He never asked for praise or recognition, he just did whatever he could to help out. He had such a special bond with the kids, whether he taught them one subject or was their homeroom teacher. His memory will always live on in his students and those of us who were fortunate enough to call him our colleague.
