We will always remember Jim's smile and positive outlook. He was the first person I saw in the morning for almost five years when he would stop in to the restaurant for his scrambled egg and coffee while out getting his newspaper. Jim always remembered our children, and alsways stopped on the street to say hello. Sadly, there will never be another hidden loonie under his coffee cup.

Jim will be sadly missed by our family. As a dear friend to my Great Auntie Marge, Jim joined our clan at most "Golden gatherings" and sat proudly at the Christmas dinner table with a paper crown on his head just like the rest of us. Like many graduates, I too was the recipient of Jim's scholarship and he remained interested in my studies and my life over the years. I appreciated that he remembered my birthday each year and sent a card. Though he wasn't a blood relative, Jim was always just part of our family. We will miss you.

Jim will be missed as he was an important part of our community. I will personally miss seeing his smiling face and casual conversation we would share at the post office. Deepest Sympathy, Jackie Gallon & Family

The community has lost a well respected gentleman. We have fondly called him "Scholarship Jim" and thank him for his support of the many students who have received funds to aid their university educations. Our family has benefited and is grateful. His continued interest in the students throughout the years was always appreciated. He will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of Jims passing. I was fortunate enough to receive his scholarship in my graduating year. His generosity certainly helped me pursue my interests in university, and I know that it has benefited many other Maidstone graduates as well. Several generations of children who have grown up in Maidstone have had the fortune of knowing Jim through his varied roles in the community. Whether out for coffee, visiting friends at the Lodge, or at the school to give out Legion awards, Jim was always an approachable person to talk to. The last couple of times I saw Jim, he was eager to hear about my studies and my life away from home. He was genuinely interested in the outcomes of the many children who he had known from his years of involvement in the community. I will not forget his kindness and generosity. My best wishes to his family and friends.
