BEHM ~ John Behm passed away peacefully at the Jubilee Home in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the age of 96 years. He is survived by his sister Angela Tait of Windsor, Ontario; brother Jacob and Alice Gartner of Edmonton, Alberta as well as nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. John was predeceased by his partner, Alice Dechka in 1997; his four brothers: Raymond, Steve, Michael and Philip Behm and his half brothers and sisters: Adam, Kay, George, Agnes, Herman, Michael and August. John Behm was born on August 24, 1915 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. At the age of 2 years, he and his Mom and four siblings moved to the Primate, Saskatchewan area. As a young man he worked at farming and also in lumber camps as far away as Vancouver Island. In the early 1940's, John moved to Rosetown, Saskatchewan where he lived and worked for many years. He spent many happy years working on Bill Copeland's farm. Bill and Alma and family remained dear friends and John thought of them as family. He was a very valued employee for his expert farming skills and work ethic. He retired in 1980 and then made Saskatoon his home where he drove school bus for several years. In 2004, he came to Lloydminster for care mainly due to his failing eye sight. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Lloydminster, Alberta on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Louis Fowoyo officiating. The interment was held in the Lloydminster City Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd., of Lloydminster, Alberta administered the Funeral arrangements. Donations in memory of John may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
