EULOGY ~
Vera Mary Lundell was born to Harry and Mary Blyth on Sept 11, 1916 north of Waseca on the farm. She went to teacher’s college and taught school for 11½ years. She met Stanley Lundell while teaching in the Milliton District. They were married in 1940 and had two children, Diane and Clifford. They moved to Lloyd in 1966 where she worked at Fishers Department Store for 11 years. Royal Purple was a big part of her life and she was their pianist for over 30 years.
Vera was a member of the Anglican Ena Harrold group as well as the Dr. Cooke Auxiliary. She loved volunteering and donating whenever asked. She was known as "the pie lady" by Reverend Michael Stonehouse. Embroidery work, curling, bowling, gardening and spending time with her family and friends were just a few of the things that she loved to do.
Vera loved spending her summers at the lake. She would always bake for lake functions and at one of these functions her and Diane had the passenger seat and floor of the golf cart loaded with pies. Caused a bit of excitement when she was seen riding on the back of the golf cart at 95 years of age. She also loved picking berries and when camping she was always on the lookout for them. One instance that comes to mind is the time she was picking berries standing on an ant hill, off came the pants and ants were flying everywhere.
I always teased her about her drinking (which was non-existent) and she always went right along with it. She once said that if she knew when I was coming by she would have been laying on the lawn with an empty bottle at her side.
She spent many hours with Diane cutting plastic bags to make rugs. Diane and Vera were inseparable and did everything together. Where one was, you would always find the other.
She was a very active lady and lived in her own home doing her own yard work and gardening well into her 90's.
She always enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. We were very privileged to have had 5 generations of girls.
Over Vera's life there is so much to tell in the 100 years that she lived you will have to remember her as you knew her. She touched everyone she met. She had said "I want the family to remember me for my love for all of them and for just as I was.
She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister, her husband Stanley in 1986 and her son Clifford in 2013.
In her long life, Vera has touched the hearts of many people with her love of life, enthusiasm and humor. She will be missed by everyone.
