I first met Debbie in Mar 1980. Her sister Sharon, 2 other girls and I had gotten back from a bus trip to Edmonton for school. We all decided to go to the Maier house and found out that it was Debbie's birthday. We all pooled what little money we had and bought a 6 pack of beer and a pack of cigarettes. I found out that night that Debbie was seeing my brother Ed. My parents 25th anniversary was in May of that same year and I could see that Ed was bored at the party. I told him to go pick up his girlfriend and come back. He told me blushing...."I don't have a girlfriend ". I told him that I had met her. He left and returned home with Debbie on his arm....you should have seen the scared look on her face with all the people there she didn't know. After that scary first night for her their love bloomed and I adopted her as my sister because I didn't have a real one. Mom and the rest of the family welcomed her with open arms. After Ed passed away she thought she was not part of our family anymore but I set her straight......family is family and she would always be my sister. Even though my brother was gone we were not letting her out of our lives.Over the years we have shared a great deal of joy and laughter, shed a great amount of tears but she stuck by our side. We shall all miss the visits of when she would bounce into one of our family homes with a big smile and a giggle. On behalf of her (mother-in-law) Josie Clifford, Loran, Phil, Rick, Jean, Jamie, nieces, nephews,great niece and great nephew.......Debbie shall be another loved member of our family .
